Gerbils chew wheels... my gerbils destroyed 2 plastic wheels in 1 week... crazy... really chew till left the stand. If want to get a wheel, best is metal wheel but then we got limited metal wheels here and most are not suitable for gerbils to use unless some modifications are done to make it "tail-safe".

yea this is the right wheel... get a big one. small one will damage their spine. Cant seem to find this wheel in petshops though, hope they bring some in.

My gerbils are destroyers... already chewed 1 corner of my big PVC pipe, RM12 gonna habis liao hahahah... but then they chewed 2 wheels and destroyed 2 water bottles... I got fed up so 2 days ago I go and burn holes to attach my bottle. Wah... so sayang lah to burn hole but then no matter how I hang or use to hang, those gerbils are able to chew the bottle... sob sob...

I wonder, how scratched up are your tanks? Mine all corners are fuzzy liao with scratches.

i am going to buy some wood, to make a rack for my tank... but thinking how much it will be ah... cos is thinking more n more complicated rack hahah

Hahah... I also got that feeling of making something for my gerbils... the hardware store got sell some wood but then I dunno what kind loh.... treated or non-treated wood? I already got hot gluegun hahahah....

Foo ah, my gerbils very very naughty... I have to take out the house you gave me loh coz ah the gerbils so smart go and stand on top the roof and chew my cover... but luckily no hole yet, can say is almost got hole hahahah.... they also chewed the house so many corner can see lots of chewing hahahah...

regarding bedding... im using chipsi super now... my gerbils got a lil bloody nose the 1st few days i changed bedding... but after that no problem...

foo... my sp black got bitten like 2 months ago... so i think she really cacat d. but hopping gerbil is cute also...lol

guys, i dont give my gerbils the expensive toys la..not also wheel..only let them play with kotak..let them destroy it haha..i also make a wood stand...they dont dare to touch it with their teeth for now haha...

normaly for the 2ft tank, how long u guys use the wood shavings before changing it to the new one...? do u change the whole shavings or only part of it...?

i change once a week. it depends on ur bedding depth la.. if u put a lot of bedding, then u can change less. i change the whole shaving

For me it depends how many gerbils are in that tank. I change once in 3 weeks for those 2 feet tank with 2 gerbils. Then change once in 2 weeks for the 2 feet tanks with 4 or more gerbils inside.
