Some of my gerbils also around 100g... but yah, when get older, they tend to lose a bit of weight... age, same as humans also I think hahahah... one day we would shrink a bit during our old age.
I love to squeeze Silver hahaha.... Chokee has become thin thin... sick boy poor thing but his Red Fox son Redster is very pretty... aiyoh, I hope I got mood to take some nice pictures tomorrow for all of you to see hahaha... |

QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Feb 2 2007, 12:54 AM) They do stink.... as in their bedding. Not the hamster... once they pee too much at 1 corner, the urine would become smelly... normal lah with most animals, just that gerbils drink less water compared to hamsters. Also, male hamsters pee is a bit smellier than female. Is it? wah luckily i hab females.. and i never seee my hamster shh shh b4 also leh , i noticed hor when they Poo Poo hor.. they actually use their mouth to Pick their Poo out from "there" leh.. i saw them doing tt and Place the Poo away from their nesting area.. its common arh? or i never knew it? |

Not sure why it's more expensive... can anyone tell me ???? hahha.. it's like RM150-RM200 for 1 duprasi. Duprasi are called Fat tailed gerbils. They are VERY different from Mongolian gerbils. Duprasi are actually a wild species. The petshops are selling duprasis that are caught from the wild. Why so expensive? Well, one is they are rare. Two is it is VERY DIFFICULT to breed them. Three is that they MUST LIVE ALONE coz they can KILL each other. Mongolians are domesticated. People have been breeding mutation colours for experiment and science purposes.... so this is why we got so many colours in Mongolians... but for Duprasis, they are still a wild species. Same with Bushy Tailed Jird, Lesser and Greater Jerboas and so on. So of course these mention species of rodents are more expensive coz they are harder to breed in captivity and are rare to find. |

They are on of the aggressive gerbils listed. They are anti social. Never ever get pairs. They are just like Syrian hamsters. You wanna know more, just search in google or yahoo. Not every gerbil species need to be in social groups so never assume. Always best to research first before buying or getting. |

Home bred duprasis are tame... the wild ones are not very tame, some may be too timid and can get easily stressed. They are only aggessive towards other gerbils.
