Saw the few past pages on postcode fighting. From what I know, Batu 9 (after toll) Suntex area already under Kajang 4xxxx. So, there is no way Sg. Long, Taman Rakan, BMC are under KL postcode starting with 5xxxx. Hence, it is under Selangor state 4xxxx.

Politically, State wise, under Kajang. But Parliamentary Seat could be under Cheras/Hulu Langat?

Unless there is delineation, as what my friend claim Cheras Damai Perdana is KL, but google maps still show outside the border.

There are few Mukim under MPKJ eg Cheras, Kajang, Semenyih, Beranang etc.

BMC postcode is 43200 Cheras not 43000 Kajang like Sg Long even though both under MPKJ and Mukim Cheras. This is puzzle me

Both townships under same Parliament and State Assembly ie Hulu Langat and Dusun Tua.

Parliament Cheras is under KL.

Bandar Damai Perdana (Parliament: Serdang) definately under Selangor but its neighbour Alam Damai (Parliament Bandar Tun Razak) under KL.

I still putting 43200 Cheras in my mailing address. The most important is... postman still managed to deliver mail to my house.

Since you live in BMC , 43200 Cheras is correct. After moving from BMC to Taming Indah 2, afraid you need to change to 43000 Kajang

LOL I think it's just an "area name". e.g. Bdr Tun Razak at Cheras KL postcode. BMC is "Cheras" but Selangor postcode. Something like Kepong Baru is KL, Desa Jaya Kepong is Selangor.

Don't confuse Mukim Cheras with Cheras.
Mukim Cheras is under Daerah Hulu Langat, hence Selangor postcode 4xxxx. Doesn't matter Kajang postcode or Dusun Tua, but start with four means Selangor.

The usual Cheras in KL is not a Mukim, with postcode 5xxxx belongs to Federal Territory (Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur)

So, it is alright and correct if one is to put address as:
123, Jalan SL 2/2,
Bandar Sungai Long
Mukim Cheras
4xxxx Selangor

But to put it this way as below is wrong (without the word Mukim):
123, Jalan SL 2/2,
Bandar Sungai Long
Cheras
4xxxx Selangor

Of course, letters will still get delivered, as postman will use postcode and common sense (refer the postcode or location Sg. Long)

Lol, I never dispute why 4xxxx not 5xxxx, I am alright with 43200 Cheras, Selangor or Cheras 432000 Selangor because it is correct, but why 43000 Kajang for Sungai Long, the fact is Sungai Long located in Cheras (Mukim Cheras) not Kajang (Mukim Kajang), that mean post office just ignore the land title fact but simply allocate a wrong code.

Post Office coding (postcode) and Land Office are different. They don't necessary follow each another exactly.
A post office could be very near the border of Sg. Long at Kajang Town, hence it is group there. Until Pos Malaysia built a new post-office and decide to re-categorize it to e.g. 43200 (same as BMC) or assign a new code, e.g. 43250


Edit: Just FYI, the place I stay was initially xx200. Recent years, POS Malaysia recategorize and now become xx100
However, not change on the land title, lot no., mukim, etc.
