1070 Max wattage is 150w, and saw the alienware forum stated x51 can support up to max 150w for graphic card. so gam gam. Only thing the is the card dimensions that might be a problem.

Guy, can't find a dedicated thread for Alienware X51 R3 in the forum.

And sorry if I'm posting in the wrong thread.

Got my X51 R3 last April 2016, would like to check whether what the stock GeForce GTX 960 manufacturer/brand inside Dell providing?? Any chance to current rig to house the GTX 1070?? Some web show it possible, but the length of the card is 10.5'' while GTX960 only 9.5''.
*
Not quite sure. if you can measure your GTX 960 which is confirmed 9.5"
You can just ask 1070 GC seller the length of the card.
And don't forget to compare the TDP of the card too yo.

Saw few post, by removing the front fan the 10.5'' card might be able to fit in. Finger cross, will keep eye on the alienware forum. Look like is possible to house 1070 into x51. GTX 1080/1070 for X51

This sound like the graphics card being overclocked.
Download GPUz and check the clock speed and compare with the native clock speed.

It stated Intel Driver causing the problem. Maybe you try to reinstall?

OK, I write down a guide for you here

1) Use DDU to uninstall all your GPU driver. (Inter and Nvidia)
http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/displa...r-download.html

2) download and install intel driver
3) download and install Nvidia driver

no need to go shop. you can always do it yourself easily. you just need an external sata cable. check my thread bro, there's a guide that might help you.

Hi guys,

just recently got an Alienware 15 R2 with stock configuration on the storage (which is a 1TB HDD).

Since I have a M.2 SSD already, I thought I could upgrade the storage on my own until I opened up the undertray and found out that Dell didn't include the screws to secure the SSD to the slots.

Upon further investigation, I found out that the screw size is not the same size as the others, in fact its much smaller.

As of right now, I'm still waiting for the reply from Dell support.

Update#1: Just remembered that I had a spare laptop and salvaged some M2 X 3 mm screws for installing the M.2 SSD on the A15 R2. Popped in the SSD and put back everything in order, power on and no display whatsover. Removed the SSD and power back on again however shows display and able to boot into windows.

Update#2: Tried putting the SSD into the 2nd SSD Slot but sadly the same result. Now I am running on the stock HDD

Hmmmm sweat.gif
