anyone tried the mi box 4? Or should i stick with mi box 3S?

Stick with Official Malaysia edition (3S) and not the unlocked edition. Unlocked is not required at all.

If you unlocked (root), the box will be permanent lost the capability to play Netflix in Full HD and 4K because Netflix won't certified root device and not certified device will be cap in 480p resolution only for Netflix.

MiBox 4 is specific design for China market now without Play Store and no Netflix certified.

MiBox 4 spec is very similar to 3s but running Mi TV OS instead of Android TV OS.

Thanks for the info, how to know if the 3S i'm getting is official malaysia edition? coz im going get it from lelong.

I dont have a netflix subscription, so if i don't plan to watch netflix should i get the unlocked version? Is this the only thing(res cap for netflix) i should worry about for getting unlocked version?

should i top up abit and get the 3S enhanced? which is the white version.

Only buy from official Lazada Xiaomi site can confirm it is legit not modified.

Why you need modify edition. They is no benefits on getting modify edition. All third party side loaded apps no need root or any modification.

As I know for the moment it only permanent affect Netflix playback resolution.

what is the difference between Mi TV OS vs Android TV OS ?

MITV OS is a china OS whit too much of junk and ads. My 2S after update with their latest rom with MiTV OS lag until cannot tahan. Now already sit in my drawer collect dust

Another set back is u will not be able to use AOTG. It requires unrooted box and also widewine level 3 support

Custom OS by Xiaomi with lots of junk for China only and also without Play Store.

Can try DirectD, original from Xiaomi Malaysia with warranty. I bought mine at DirectD PJ outlet.

Found a working Amazon Video for Android TV. This apk is taken out from Nvidia Shield. Tested and working in Mi Box.

Notice Ultra HD content cannot playback mentioned not enough bandwidth. I don't have such issue on my Panasonic TV Amazon Video.

Tonight will try another version take out from Sony Android TV.
