For aotg to work, you will always need the latest version. Astro will not allow older aotg version to connect

Alright guys, I've been looking for a clear answer.

As most of you know about Kodi 17.x Passthrough issue since its releases, related to something called IEC audio standard in android Nougat, many devices out there become not supported .
and they said the "Mi Box" is Android 5.x but it has nougat backported code that allow this device supports it. So... I need a clear answer from all Mi Box global users here.

Question:
Does Mi Box (global set/ from Mi Store Malaysia) support Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD passthrough to Amp with Kodi 17.x? What else does it support other than the two i mentioned above?

If it confirmed works, let me know if thats the right model you get from Mi Malaysia

because I've seen many global set variant like 3c or whatever

different model could be different chipset and might not support what I'm looking for

not sure what do u mean by blank screen. This is what i encountered and the way i solved

1. AOTG crashed whenever i launched the app. Solution: Change the default keyboard layout in the mi box to gboard (Google)
2. Once (1) done, the app can launch without issue. However since AOTG app by default is portrait mode, the display of the app will be tilted to the left by default. Solution: download set orientation app , launch it and force the orientation to landscape mode. Then relaunch AOTG, and the display will be correct.
3. Hard to navigate through AOTG app. Solution: Use a mouse.

You won't be able to find in playstore via Mi Box as Android TV doesn't support both officially. You need to download the apks and install them manually.

I don't have a TrueHD or DTS HD capable receiver so can't help on that.

But my receiver supports DTS and Dolby and DTS and Dolby pass thru definitely works with Kodi 17.x on my international mibox MDZ-16-AB.

Oh, btw stock international mibox runs on Android TV 6.0 OS. It's not the regular android os found on mobile devices

Someone gave me a mibox 3, it's black in color. I have some questions on it:

1) must i root it to delete apps? I tried uninstalling the weather app but failed.

2) need to put sd card if want to install new apps? Tried installing some apps from shafa but failed.

3) any tips or advice on how to fully utilize the mibox?

International mi box comes with play store. Yes, you can install whatever you can find in the playstore but bear in mind the content in the playstore is meant for Android TV which is different from your mobile phone. You won't find some apps in the playstore for this reason.

Stock Android TV OS doesn't come with a web browser. If you need a web browser, you can side load the apk manually or install from the limited selection in playstore .

For side loading, you can use pendrive or nfs or ftp or whatever means you are comfortable of moving the apk from source to your mi box
