QUOTE(abubin @ Dec 21 2016, 10:54 AM) You wouldn't be asking this is you know what is root. Especially since you been using android for so long. Anyway, basically rooting in android generally allows you to run apps that require root. Certain apps need access to your system files that are usually protected by the OS. For example, titanium backup will be able to backup your system software if it has root. Some apps can only run properly when it has root access. yeah exactly, I already know what root does, pretty much gained full access to the device, giving permission to apps that will access to system lower level that normally is protected. but ppl out there called this modification on mi TV box "jailbreak" like it's another thing other than root, since the tv box is also android based, I dont really get it, is jailbreak just another name of root? or different thing my question is simple: is Jailbreak = Root? if it's not, whats the difference? just have a little confusion with "jailbreak" especially in Mi TV box android based device. if Iphone/IPad IOS I know what jailbreak does, but in mi tv box android device? some ppl say need to jailbreak then root? QUOTE(gwong @ Dec 22 2016, 10:26 AM) I think for android we basically do not call it a jailbreak. Jailbreak is for IOS. This basically means Jailbreak (IOS) = Rooting (Android). ok, thanks Mibox is basically an Android, so you root it. Which is to gain access to system file for specific writing permission (which u already know). This is my understanding. So just ignore what those people out there is calling it, basically they might not know what are they referring to. I just got my box today, time to enjoy tonight |

Alright guys, I've been looking for a clear answer.
As most of you know about Kodi 17.x Passthrough issue since its releases, related to something called IEC audio standard in android Nougat, many devices out there become not supported . and they said the "Mi Box" is Android 5.x but it has nougat backported code that allow this device supports it. So... I need a clear answer from all Mi Box global users here. ("Mi Box", which model? definitely not china set) Question: Does Mi Box (global set/ from Mi Store Malaysia) support Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD passthrough to Amp with Kodi 17.x? What else does it support other than the two i mentioned above? If it confirmed works, let me know if thats the right model you get from Mi Malaysia because I've seen many global set variant like 3c or whatever different model could be different chipset and might not support what I'm looking for This post has been edited by squall0833: Nov 11 2017, 04:40 AM |
