Read the CCA. The CCA act as a wireless to connect your amp speaker to become wireless. Is that correct? Each amp speaker need a CCA to connect on it. If you have multiple amp speaker.
So If I get a wireless speaker, it already built in the CCA. Just pair it to the phone or router. Don't need a CCA to connect to this wireless speaker?
For your google home, is your google home can act as a wireless speaker? phone stream to the google home. Since it have the speaker and wireless ?
I think I have the similar setup with my yamaha AV. But seldom use it. The AV is Lan connect to the switch. I can use my phone or tab to fire up the AV and stream music to it. And the DS Audio too. (The AV can direct play the song from the NAS too)
1-CCA make your old speaker become a smart speaker or wireless as you put it.
You need an amp if it is a passive one and
You do not need an amp if it is an active speaker.
2-You are right, when you buy speakers with chrome-cast built-in
you do not need CCA dongle.
chrome cast built-in speakers at the moment, expensive.
if you have the budget, then ok.
3-Yes, google home have a speaker by itself.
you can create google home as a new group by itself.
Hand-free calling on google home only in the US.
Do not think it will ever be available here.
Google Home is not even officially launch here.
4-There is a lot devices out there using smart phone apps to activate
devices.this are old technology.
If you have the budget and getting new hardware,
you should considered investing voice-controlled speakers
like Amazon Echo or Google Home.
