DECT phone do comes with either RJ11 (regular old phone) or RJ45 (Ethernet) plug. However, the phone and Internet are different signalling. It also has different voltage swing. Devices used for Ethernet signalling will not work for DECT phone that reason, I believe.

Never saw DECT phone come with RJ45, those phones come with RJ45 normally is IP phone such as Cisco, Avaya.

Even Unifi VOIP also using RJ11 for DECT phone

As Zot pointed out, 20A wifi switch are not cheap.
If your water pump use less than 16A, can consider use Sonoff POW or TH16.
Pair it with a Sonoff PIR sensor and RF bridge and you can complete your automation.

my water pump is 1.5hp grundfos multi stage pump, so i think it uses lesser than 20A. If i get a Sonoff POW how do i wire them to the sonoff? since my switch have 4 cables. this is how my existing switch looks like.

Is the black wire neutral and yellow wire live?

How big is your house? Dect wireless cover quite big.. There also dect repeater if you really need. Also normal 2 story house already got multi point telephone jack.. Can re-use that wire and put multiple phone.

Connect the POW to your water pump. Don't need to change the switch.

Use a test pen to check which wire is live wire. Best educated guess is yellow.

Malaysia uses:
L Wire
Red
Yellow
Blue

N Wire
Black

1 phase wiring can be Red or Yellow or Blue. 3 phase uses all these colors as L wire.

Like Fubar20 said no need to replace the switch because POW is not a wall switch replacement. The switch will always be on to the POW and POW is actually switching the pump.

A 1.5 HP motor would require a maximum of 1118.55 watts. So, 1118.55W/240V = 4.66A current only. So, no problem to use the Sonoff POW

I believe those phone is connected through a gateway. The gateway will have at least 1 LAN port and several RJ-11 ports for phone connection. The gateway has converted the IP packets back to analog. The DECT with RJ45 connects its base directly to LAN switch. I found one model here:

aneip suggestion is very good idea. Normally for 2-story house, there are 2 separate phone wires. One to ground floor and one to upper floor. These wires go one point at the edge of the roof for external phone line connection. If you join these two wires, you have connection between ground and upper floor. You have parallel phone wire pairs.

In fact most phone wires has two pairs of wire, even though only one pair is used by phone. These two pairs can be used as Ethernet cable. I believe it is still good even for 100Mbps. Just need to replace with RJ45 connector to it.

If you still want to utilize your house wireless LAN (well if wireless LAN can cover the whole house, there is no reason the DECT can't cover, I think biggrin.gif ), you can use this device, which I found the least expensive so far:

http://blog.thetelecomspot.com/how-to-exte...sipvoip-fxofxs/

I think you just need to plug the HT-503 to your wall phone socket and then plug the LAN cable to your wireless router. On the receiving end of the LAN, you need the HT-502 that will act as your FXS point. I hope I understood the device correctly smile.gif

Well the main reason i was looking for this kind of solution is because i want to connect another point to the alarm panel which is under the stairs. I do not have a typical PSTN telekom telephone. I was thinking of using Unifi phone connections that comes out from the modem which is far away from the stairs. I need to find out the original where internal rj11 ends so maybe i can tap it from there hmm.gif

I think the normal smart switch is single pole. Those high wattage pump use 20A two pole switch, safe to convert to single pole smart switch like sonoff POW? Better check

Sonoff POW is not a wall switch. h11g want to change the wall switch to his water pump. Too expensive for 20A Wifi wall switch hence the Sonoff POW or TH16.

I believe it does not really matter single or double poles. The reason for having double pole isolators is because it is essential in the event of an hard-wired appliance neutral-earth fault happened, allowing householder to switch off and isolate the faulty equipment easily and safely and able to reset tripped RCD to restore power to the rest of the house. A single pole switch will be useless in this situation. As you can see why lighting switches are single pole since in general there is no ground wire to the bulbs or lighting fixture.

It is also important when electricians run megger test. The 500 volts meggering voltage otherwise could damage appliances in the premises if not isolated. More or less it is a matter on convenience to be able to isolate out the bad circuit from the rest of healthy circuit to turn the power back on.

thanks for all the detailed suggestion guys, really appreciate it. But my water pump is on the roof of my house, and it is situated in a sheltered area but heavy rain water may get to the water pump area. and i'm not too sure about the wifi signal there. my second problem is my mum doesn't know how to turn on the water pump using the app, so that's why im considering the smart switch instead because she can use the switch to turn on the water pump whereas the rest of us can control the water pump on the app. Since my water pump only uses roughly 5amps, means i can use sonoff t1 switch right?

Don't quite understand your situation
Why do you need a smart switch for the water pump? Normally the pump switch is left turn on all the time.
It has a buildin pressure switch and the pump doesnt run until you turn on a tap.
Dont tell me every each time you want to use water you will turn on the switch for the pump?
Your pump will say bye bye in no time..... laugh.gif

Didn't your water pump auto-triggered by pressure?

Because his pipes are leaking a bit so it turns on the pump.
That’s why he uses a sonoff to turn it off at night. But the basic is only 10amps. I would rather use the higher 16a just to be sure.

Hows your bathroom lights? Got turn off while taking shower? laugh.gif

Sonoff T1 max is only 2A per gang.
Since you still want a manual switch, maybe can consider Sonoff RF with RF wall switch
Sonoff RF
