Remember more sensors more maintenance

I'm going to get Echo dot to integrate with my smartthings home automation, actually I ordered it Nov last year through ezbuy, but they fxxx out and waste my 1.5 months waiting, very bad service for ezbuy US store.

I also just got the broadlink tc2 and RM Pro, now integrating with smartthings, so that I can use echo dot to voice control all my smart devices

I bought the xiaomi temperature/humidity sensor lately to monitor my drybox humidity, the sensor is dirt cheap which costs < RM35, and it can work with smartthings, I'm going to buy more xiaomi zigbee plug/motion sensor/door & windows contact sensors since it is much cheaper and able to work with smartthings hub

That is because you don't know about smart home, home automation is a hot topic in developed countries.

My smart home will automatically open my autogate when I approach my home, turn on gate lights. living room lights automatically when I reach home when it is dark. turn off light when I watch TV/Movie, and one touch to turn on/off all my amp, TV, media player. it is more than what you thought, it can make your life easier if you know how to do it creatively.

Further more, it is also can act as wireless house alarm, if someone break in your house, you will get notified through the app wherever you are , it also can integrate to IP Camera to take pic and video when house get intruded.

Don't understand why such a simple devise can't operate ownself. Got to use cloud.

I plan to buy one from taobao instead, faster to get from there.
Still no sales on echo dot for now. I notice for ezbuy you have to push them a bit, last time i tried to buy amazon fire tv stick during black friday sales and they only order it a week after that promo ended. Obviously it goes back to full price and I cancelled that order.
What's the shipping fee for ezbuy us? I mostly use it for prime shipping now, can't go wrong with rm16 for a single checkout for any items.

For the broadlink rm pro, how do you extend to other rooms?
Do you have to use rf extender cable like with logitech harmony or get multiple rm pro and place it various room like the kitchen/living room?
Can you share how you configure smartthings with xiaomi home suit system?

Smarthome system with an AI would be good in the future. Like Jarvis and now Friday in the ironman movies.

Cloud is also marketing hype lah, cloud is someone else computer inside Datacenter.

The purpose of using cloud is they can milk you (annual /monthly), connecting around the world, high up time. Than again what is the point if got cloud connection but house Internet is depending in electric and one isp? Still got many point of failure.

Because it's a simple device,
If it run by it ownself, you can't control it from anywhere in the world

setting up mine as well, currently, linking echo with hue and vera, still waiting for harmony hub to arrive

so far problem encounter is when 2nd dot( in master room) cant connect to wifi
other than that need the dot to really recognize your english n sentence structure

where you bought your echo dot?

from amazon la, abuthen?

I think should be no problem, saw an echo demo with a guy with thick chinese accent and still can get recognized

delivery to my usa address quite fast, then consolidation cos waiting other items, then ship back here, ard 3 days bah, DHL
