Any other cheaper option?? i stumble upon amazon echo show 5. Just want some choice that I can compare and make decision.
*
Show 5 have hearing problem and current price more expensive if you compare with this current 99.90usd for 2 Google Nest Hub, that's a no brainer.
Unless you need built-in camera.

hmm.gif How can they be excessive voltage load if the fan and lights are using mains voltage of 220 to 240V? You are saying those are using more than 240V?

I think he mean wattage.

Stick to broad link
Most home automation platforms support it and you will find there’s a tonne of development out there for it
*
Are you using the Broadlink to control your airconditioner? Please share what other function is available other than on/off.

hi, would like to know more about this universal remote by broadlink.
Can one device control multiple device in a room? let say i placed one broadlink in my living room, can it be use to control the TV, aircond, smart blind using only one unit in the same room?
*
Yes because they have more than 1 IR Led. I have open up my Tuya.
Btw, my supplier inform me his Zigbee no neutral (Tuya Zigbee wired or wireless gateway needed) is ready for order. Anyone willing to be guinea pig? I don't like rocker type, prefer touch.
According to them, on paper "Marked with 5W minimum for Led, but actually their test is at 3W LED no issue. No capacitor needed. When connected to Zigbee gateway have 2 Led indicators, Blue Led always on, RED led is status, when Off is red.
Power supply: Live wire only(No neutral)
Adapter Type: EU/UK
Working current: Max 10A Load power:<800W
Working voltage: AC100 - 240V, Frequency: 50 / 60HZ
Service life: 100,000 times

I would be interested! Can share some details?

Special price but limited units. I think cannot post price here, right?
What other details you need?
Btw, for samples the marking behind maybe in chinese.
Update on the rocker/toggle smart switch.
Didn't know there is 2 types in the market.
One is magnetic relay, will hear the realy sound when on/off and another is SCR silicon-controlled rectifier which is silent.
Any idea which is better? My existing zigbee touch switch is SCR while this new rocker is magnetic relay.

QUOTE(Kiding @ May 9 2020, 11:00 AM)
For xiaomi eco system, if the device requires you to be in china region, I will try to avoid it, the reason is simple, network connection to china is not really consistent and fast, sometime you can get up to 10 seconds delay, imagine the motion sensor detects your motion, and then lights only turn on after 10 seconds  doh.gif  yawn.gif
*
But why so many users still go and buy Xiaomi smart home devices since it's so unstable? Every now and then can see people saying this device or that device is down or not compatilble due to global & china region.

Anyone using smart plugs together with amazon echo dot?

Can I just plug in any device and control it (ie turn on and off)?
*
You mean smart sockets like this? If yes, than can control via Alexa no issue. Can even automate with sensors and timing schedule.
QUOTE(Fubar20 @ Mar 19 2020, 09:50 AM)
User of Sonoff and Tuya based smart plug here.
If you mean socket, Sonoff got outdoor socket while there are Tuya based socket for single or double socket with a USB outlet.
*
Is yours square or round?

Just a follow up to this. I want to use this to turn on and off a tower fan. Would it work? Because I’ve tested manually By turning the switch on and off on the tower fan But it doesn’t Turn back on. Only way is to use the in off switch on the fan itself.

Would the smart plug be able to recognize that ?
*
It won't work. Does your tower fan got remote?

Keep reading online about no neutral very fast rosak or worst can rosak the LEDs

https://passionhome.sg/product/aqara-wall-s...-wire-required/

If cant use with starter means my L BOX kalimantang light cant automate dy right using the no neutral switch? sad.gif

Have a weird setup of eco dot + xiaomi hub now. The first recently found from my stash. Never knew i had it. Planning to base my setup on the alexa now. Starting with smart plugs and planning for the switches as a cheap way to start. But paused on the switches due to the reliabilit issues
*
Maybe the capacitor types, nowadays should be better. Who tell you cannot use smart switch with normal fluorescent with ballast & starter?

*
Mine is Zigbee but Wifi also have non capacitors type but I prefer Zigbee. If tested ok, how many total smart switches you going to install in your house?
QUOTE(Zot @ May 17 2020, 09:40 AM)
Capacitor is optional, Install only if required under certain condition.
*
New types of Zigbee No neutral don't need capacitor. In fact instructions is not to put capacitors.

Get this from Aliexpress or Taobao.
Can connect via eWeLink app or flash custom firmware on it. Need to install a capacitor though on one of the gang load.
*
How is the sensivity of this switch? Instant touch/on? Or need press a bit like fingerprint only on?

Yes you know I only have dumb switch  laugh.gif,

There are smart switch that can work with florescent, but that would be different one that most of you are using here.
*
Majority of no neutral smart switch will work with fluorescent lights. It's just a magnetic relay to connect the live wire, no rocket science at work.
QUOTE(TheLegend27 @ May 17 2020, 06:25 PM)
what abt this 1?? this 1 is mechanical switch (tactile) but also mention no neutral? look cheap compare to aqara.

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/quicklin...whoC-EcQAvD_BwE
*
That's a battery operated RF remote switch. No wires at all.
