Anybody here using rocker type smart switch? Even though it's rocker, it does not behave like conventional light switch? "Press down" switch is down position but smart switch is just toggle of/on then back to neutral position?

QUOTE(blancpain4470 @ Mar 17 2020, 10:05 PM) Thanks. If I relocate the hub to the basement it will be a bigger problem as I have more devices on floor 1 to 3 and hub will have problem connecting to my router on 1st floor! Since 3 stories better have the gateway on 2nd floor or if your house really big, 1 on each floor or get zigbee repeater, most mains activated devices with neutral should be able to act as mesh. I am not familiar with Aqara but should be the same as my Tuya Zigbee.

QUOTE(Fubar20 @ Mar 19 2020, 10:27 AM) Plug or Socket? I only have smart plugs. Reliability for the plugs are excellent. No issues for them. Slight preference to the Tuya plugs because of their small form factor and the ability for power monitoring. I found one Tuya smart power socket with IR. Too bad MOQ is 200. QUOTE(Fubar20 @ Mar 19 2020, 10:37 AM) Yes, can control from the phone via app and Google Home. Wall socket with IR blaster inside? To blast IR code to your other devices? Weird. I find it practical. Because double up as Smart socket. Any FB Portal user here? This post has been edited by adamw: Mar 19 2020, 11:40 AM Attached thumbnail(s)

QUOTE(Fubar20 @ Mar 19 2020, 04:20 PM) I don't think IR blaster work like that. It won't know whether your aircon is on or off. Futhermore, aircon wall socket are at the side of the aircon. How to blast? The aircon IR receiver is @blower unit.

QUOTE(Fubar20 @ Mar 19 2020, 05:37 PM) Your aircon? Mine just next to blower but can't imagine how IR code from wall socket can reach it without line of sight unless hoping the signal bounce from the wall. Don't need line of sight, I leave mine on top of my desktop PC on the floor, can control air con at top & tv on the left. It's not expensive, just get one to test it out. The IR seems stronger than the individual remotes. BTW, mine is independent unit, no smart socket. This post has been edited by adamw: Mar 19 2020, 05:53 PM

QUOTE(Fubar20 @ Apr 5 2020, 08:51 PM) What an ugly smart plug! If dunno then after MCO asked electrician to change the wall switch lah. Yes, I think Smart Switch lifespan far exceeds that of Smart bulb. Better ROI.

QUOTE(chriscym @ Apr 6 2020, 11:25 AM) I got to agree with you, do you DIY or get some electrician come to install the wall switch? Just did one more 2 Gang this morning. For maximum safety get a detector & off the mcb and test one more time before removing the old switch. Leave the live wire for last & use a long nose plier just to be safe instead of touching the live wire. This post has been edited by adamw: Apr 6 2020, 09:20 PM Attached thumbnail(s)
