Hi, is anyone into air quality monitor? My original plan was to get it custom built by a taobao shop where I could mix and match the sensors and communication module e.g. zigbee. I just realized last night that some sensor such as the one used to detect formaldehyde has a lifespan of 2 years. I then came across this Eve Room which is HomeKit compatible. It doesn’t detect formaldehyde specifically but tvoc. It’s second generation actually has a lifespan longer than 2 years based on a comment I read on Amazon. There’s no direct way to integrate it into HA though. It seems like I’ll need a WiFi bridge i.e. Eve Extend to do that. I plan to use the monitor to trigger air purifier and fresh air system.
The best way to keep formaldehyde low is to ventilate indoor air, this not only improves air quality, it also prevents moldKeep your front and back windows open most of the time, it help air circulating.
