Hi, is anyone into air quality monitor? My original plan was to get it custom built by a taobao shop where I could mix and match the sensors and communication module e.g. zigbee. I just realized last night that some sensor such as the one used to detect formaldehyde has a lifespan of 2 years. I then came across this Eve Room which is HomeKit compatible. It doesn’t detect formaldehyde specifically but tvoc. It’s second generation actually has a lifespan longer than 2 years based on a comment I read on Amazon. There’s no direct way to integrate it into HA though. It seems like I’ll need a WiFi bridge i.e. Eve Extend to do that. I plan to use the monitor to trigger air purifier and fresh air system.
*
The best way to keep formaldehyde low is to ventilate indoor air, this not only improves air quality, it also prevents mold

Keep your front and back windows open most of the time, it help air circulating.

No need homekit for siri to work hehehe
Use shortcut
My siri now work with Tuya, MiHome, android assistant
biggrin.gif
PM me guide you and how you do your home
*
Siri can do automation? I doubt it. homekit with apple tv/homepod mini as hub can do automation.

If you don't have homekit hub, then you cannot perform automation using homekit, need to use Aqara/xiaomi hub to run its own automation, if your devices are all aqara or xiaomi brand, then there is no issue to use aqara/xiaomi automation.

if you have multi-brand smart devices that support homekit, then it is wise to get homekit hub (Apple TV/Homepod mini) or setup home-assistant which is more complicated to setup but very powerful for automation

Yes can use shortcuts and siri automation can
My siri shortcuts work with Tuya, Google Assistant, MiHome
I can set when i reach home... my phone connect to my home wifi, then my tuya lights will come on to welcome me...

I can also command hey siri to turn on my android tv (google assistant) and get Tuya switch to switch on my speaker
*
Siri shortcut can only do personal automation, not home automation.

for example, when you were away from home, and someone break in your house and trigger motion sensor, will your siri enabled switch turn on light or siren?

Successful integrated all IP camara with RTSP capability for object detection using nvidia cuda toolkit, and use mqtt to send alerts to home assistant

Components

1. Viseron self hosted NVR with object detection https://github.com/roflcoopter/viseron#cameras
2. Home assistant
3. MQTT
4. nvidia cuda toolkit (required nvidia graphic card)

all above components are running on docker images.

The object detection use nvidia cuda engine to perform object detection based on YOLOv3/4 Darknet using OpenCV
the accuracy is pretty good, it is way better than any motion detection which always giving false alarm, look at the image below which can identify a person pretty far away.

nvidia graphic card utilization, it use quite amount of ram but gpu is running not so hot.

next plan is to setup a new rasbperry pi camera with face detection to enable occupancy detection in rooms.

What IP camera have RTSP? or use custom firmware?
*
Many IP camera supports RTSP, I have foscam, tplink, ezviz (hikvision), imou (Da hua), all supports RTSP protocol.

RTSP is a standard protocol for IP camera, you can use opensource NVR software to manage all different brands of ip camera.

Any recommendation based on your experience? Which is easier to work with? Interested to integrate with Home Assistant.. Later maybe opensource NVR. Currently using 2 Yi camera. Beside the app (human detection notification), I use Google hub to see the camera..
*
I prefer imou ip camera, cheap, very good night vision (it is color!), and able to perform good motion detection with tracking using camera hardware.

QUOTE(alucard89 @ Apr 15 2021, 08:03 AM)
Which device are you running the nvr software?
The image recognition running in real time? Or based on snapshots taken from rtsp stream
*
all of the software I mentioned are running on docker container, which is hosted by Intel quad Core gen4 cpu, 8GB RAM, 1 x Nvidia 1030 GPU and Ubuntu 20.04 LTS OS
object detection is running in real time, fed by RTSP H264/H265 video streams, you can set the video FPS and the zones, the bigger the zone, the more memory and gpu it used. you also can set the accuracy rate, it can identify person, car, cat, dog and you can configure if you want to trigger the detection by person or other object types

Have you tried frigate nvr, maybe some comparison with viseron?
Frigate just popped up on my youtube and looks interesting and seems easy to setup.
Google coral usb module seems interesting but sold out/not selling here
*
I don't have coral usb accelerator and Frigate doesn't support CUDA to perform object detection, but Frigate is pretty similar to Viseron, both use similar codes.

Hi sifus, recently i bought aqara wall switch 3 gang, and I tried to install it to replace my old switch, but it seem like mixed up my three lighting switch.. Sometimes one of the single gang switch on my car porch lights and living room lights, and sometimes it switch on car porch lights only, or totally no lighting on.

Some photo from my old switch here, hope some can guide on this issues.

Thanks for your sharing. I did some testing again, seem like one of my switch (Switch A) must be on, in order for the other two to switch on.

Example,
1. If I want to on my switch B / C, then switch A must be on. If swith A is off, then the switch B / C cannot turn on.

2. Switch B / C will be turn off if my switch A is off.

This is the strangest wiring for three gang switch I have ever seen, is this what you wanted? the live wire run serially through three gangs? must turn on switch A in order to turn on B, and must turn on be A and B in order to turn on C. console.gif doh.gif shocking.gif rclxub.gif sweat.gif

Sometime I really amazed by certain people braveness, 240V is no kidding, if you don't know electricity, it could kill you, it could burn your house, it could get your entire family killed in the worst case scenario. don't play play lah ....

Hi everyone, I have an icsee camera and trying to add it to homebridge so I have access via homekit.

I have tried adding the camera FFmpeg plugin and tried many rstp URL but am not able to get it to work.

What I have now is:
"source": "-i rtsp://slash:abcd123@192.168.1.242:554/user=slash&password=abcd123&channel=1&stream=0.sdp?",
"stillImageSource": "-i http://192.168.1.242/webcapture.jpg?comman...&chanel=1",

Anyone knows how to get the rstp to work? Thanks.

does the server region matter if using homekit mode ?

if only use homekit mode, there is no need to set region, but it also means you can't use alexa either.

hi, currently, my aqara app had set to china region.
May i ask if i change to other region, will all my automation and device connected need to redo again? or will it still stay as it is?
thanks
*
Only changing china region to other regions or vice versa will cause all of your current devices missing, and you need to redo everything.

you already noticed it.

QUOTE(Drian @ May 21 2021, 12:35 AM)
all this xiaomi , sonoff , tuya , technically all the controller and automation is done on cloud, that's why it's so slow.
Imagine you have a motion sensor, you send the data all the way to china or whatever server it is located, the server process the automation and then send the command all the way back to malaysia.
If you want lower latency, you have to do local like home assistant.

I would recommend brands that are supported by Home Assistant.
*
You are wrong, Xiaomi and sonoff automation are not really done in cloud, automation is run locally, just the setup and devices are managed from cloud.

My xiaomi and sonoff lights turn on in less than 1 second when motion/door sensor detected activity.

That’s because you are using it through HomeKit right? It’s slower when you use the Aqara app.

I just migrated by stuff from other region to China just to use the new M2 hub, there is a delay (longer one) when using in the Aqara app (which I only use to pair it).
*
me same as @soonwai, aqara hub managed xiaomi devices, automation runs locally in Aqara App (not homekit), response is fast even set in china region.

Anyone here have luck converting the normal RF 433Hz DOOYA tubular to use Smart WIFI module to control it?
*
Use Broadlink RM4 Pro to control your Dooya tubular, then configure Broadlink to integrate to your smarthome system.

For viserion, is the detection done on mainstream or substream?
Also, for room occupancy are you using viseron with the face detection or another project like
Double Take?
*
it can be done on main stream or substream

I have not yet configured room occupancy as busy working on another IoT high availability setup.

Hi Sifus, I'm currently using 2 ecosystem, Tuya and Mi Home with below setup

Tuya - light switches, 20A, wall plug and Autogate relay all connected to wifi only

MiHome - Light and fan switches connected to Mi Aqara gateway

May i ask your advice how can i consolidate both ecosystem into 1 controller, eg: Google home?
Because i'm using Google home to voice controller Tuya switches, but not able to do so for Mihome due to App is set to china region.

Should i replace all my MiHome switches to Tuya zigbee switches?
*
Home Assistant is the solution ,google it or search this thread

Hi, I would like to ask how is the experience on using mihome china server? I used to use mihome china server, but i couldnt bare with the delay and slow respond so i switch to malaysia server. Recently I would like to switch back to china server, is the delay problem still there? Thanks
*
As long as there is a CCP Great Firewall in between, don't expect the delay or latency issue can be improved. My Aqara home app get time out frequently as my devices are set in China region.

If you want, we can share the shipping fee, RM75 shipping fee split by two persons is RM37.5, more ppl even cheaper.

I plan to get coral usb for my raspberry pi4
