QUOTE(dest9116 @ Dec 12 2024, 09:33 AM) Have you tried using the modified mihome apk that supports China devices/sensors in Malaysia/SG server? I've been using it for 2 years without problem. But I have since moved to aqara because my sensors are mostly aqara and they run locally if use aqara app No I have not. I am getting fed up though. The devices doesn't even update its software. I am thinking of moving to tuya and build another ecosystem and slowly move away from mihome.

Getting Started

|
I am interested in building my smart home, currently with apple tv 4k (thread-capable router). What devices should I start with that supports homekit, matter w/ thread and does not cost a bomb price, with questionable reliability.

There’s this shop here, use sea shipping for cheaper rate https://my.world.taobao.com/item/7637599224...FromAutoCallApp For cheaper thread devices, there’s espzero code where you can just flash thread firmware and just swap out those wifi chips from tuya devices

Is there a physical store to try out different aqara smart switches? Looking into getting some for my wall light switches but would prefer to try them out in person to get an idea on how they look and feel. Contemplating between E1 and H1 since they're both zigbee 3.0

QUOTE(ryansxs @ Jan 16 2025, 05:21 PM) Well i am speaking about Aqara stuff so Aqara app, if you want to use that as your main way of controlling stuff and your stuff is from CN region and youre using CN server, you will notice the "lag". But you can have the same CN region items and CN server in the app but when you are using Homekit you wont experience that "lag".

QUOTE(ryansxs @ Jan 16 2025, 10:42 PM) you can use china stuff on homekit? Yes, Aqara hub supports Homekit, doesnt matter what region or server you choose. I used the M2 Hub for like a couple of years with most of my stuff from CN region and server in the app, no issues.

QUOTE(jdachum @ Jan 19 2025, 10:45 AM) Why are you connected via China server if your hub is global version? Because my newer D1 switches can't connect to global server... so the other day when I was migrating to HA I decided to migrate everything to China server on Aqara side.

Your D1 is China version? This will be my first time diving into Home Assistant. You reckon I can do Aqara China child devices -> Aqara China hub -> Home Assistant -> Google Home and to be controlled by Google Home mini?
