Just checking with Sifu in here
I'm using mostly Sonoff ZigBee devices connection with Ewelink for my mother's house. After a TNB black out of example 2 hours, some devices go offline and some completely disappear A simple off/on will not make it online back again. Need to go through setup. Not all the devices but some. And each power outrage, not the same device gets offline. A bit of hassle to setup again. If it for Tuya also same? Cos I want to built another system using Tuya This post has been edited by azbro: Nov 11 2024, 02:08 PM |

QUOTE(azbro @ Nov 11 2024, 02:07 PM) Just checking with Sifu in here I think that’s what I dislike about zigbee in general, if your powered zigbee devices (not battery ones) get reset because of power outage and you have to re-setup all over again. Cos I want to built another system using Tuya That doesn’t happen with wifi devices running custom firmware like esphome because the wifi credentials/settings are compiled in the firmware azbro liked this post

QUOTE(whycanot323 @ Nov 12 2024, 04:46 PM) Basically it’s not a native matter devicesAqara switch —(zigbee)—> Aqara hub —(matter)—> other platform (homekit, alexa, smart thing) There are some matter over thread switches out there, just slightly expensive https://sg.world.taobao.com/item/800635741093.htm |

1)if buying all aqara devices, if after power trip, the device need add and rules/automation need to re-setup?
2) just asking, i see taobao aqara switches/lighting are cheaper and more models/variances, can i buy? it can connect to local aqara hub? will it have delay? i heard there is china version and global version? if so, how do we differentiate that? i plan to buy from taobao china for this and use here, can connect to malaysia M3 hub? i want to use aqara app or HA in future, dont want use homekit (not apple user). http://e.tb.cn/h.T0fDJAwAdxJdBHn?tk=X0N03rfwgR5 This post has been edited by whycanot323: Nov 13 2024, 12:57 AM |

If the devices did get reset after power trip, you'd need to pair it again manually, no automation can help with that. 2) just asking, i see taobao aqara switches/lighting are cheaper and more models/variances, can i buy? it can connect to local aqara hub? will it have delay? i heard there is china version and global version? if so, how do we differentiate that? i plan to buy from taobao china for this and use here, can connect to malaysia M3 hub? i want to use aqara app or HA in future, dont want use homekit (not apple user). http://e.tb.cn/h.T0fDJAwAdxJdBHn?tk=X0N03rfwgR5 But that rarely happens though, since most devices need several power cuts like 4x - 3x consecutively to get reset You can still use china version with the hub, just need to switch region in the setting. With HA, don't have to worry about china/global version, any zigbee devices regardless of brand can pair. |

Theoretically, yes, if the Tuya switches are properly Matter-certified and your hub (Aqara Home/SmartThings) supports Matter. But in practice, cross-brand compatibility with Matter is still a bit of a wild west. You might run into quirks or limitations. |

For number one usually wont really ever need to repair larh eventually they will get back onto the zigbee mesh on their own. 2) just asking, i see taobao aqara switches/lighting are cheaper and more models/variances, can i buy? it can connect to local aqara hub? will it have delay? i heard there is china version and global version? if so, how do we differentiate that? i plan to buy from taobao china for this and use here, can connect to malaysia M3 hub? i want to use aqara app or HA in future, dont want use homekit (not apple user). http://e.tb.cn/h.T0fDJAwAdxJdBHn?tk=X0N03rfwgR5 And zigbee is local, so as long as youre using either Home Assistant or Homekit to interface with the devices there should be no lag at all. But if youre using the Aqara Home app then only the region might come into play. Most of my Aqara stuff are from China, back when i was using the M2 hub i did use the CN region to set up everything. |

Or just a simple single button connected to a buzzer in the house. For me, unless you want to go for Camera type with door bell, better stick to traditional one as more reliable and not rely on WiFi. Seriously those elcheapo shoppe ones are dem reliable. If you insist on making it Smart, may be for automation scenes and notifications, I would suggest other sensors for it. Like I said, unless you want to go with the Doorbell with camera type. But that's my opinion This post has been edited by azbro: Nov 16 2024, 03:30 PM |
