QUOTE(idoblu @ Aug 1 2017, 07:57 AM) i added a smart socket to my iTead collection lol i always forget to turn off my charger so I bought a smart plug for it. now i can turn it off even im not at home strangely it doesnt connect with my wifi's guest network (my sonoff connected ok) i also noticed that my sonoff is version 1.5.2 and my s20 smart plug is 1.5.5 dunno if that has got to do with ithave you guys updated to v1.5.5? also do you know what is the "loop timer" setting for? (see pic) For me, I flashed my s20 with tasmota firmware to use with home assistant. Makes it easier to to turn on/off switch based on phone battery level when charging (especially overnight charging)

QUOTE(WIS9000 @ Jul 24 2017, 10:22 AM) Hi, i had the same idea of modding my auto gate and even went and bought a Xiaomi Aqara wall switch for this but ended up not working in the end as i only noticed the different voltage involved. My initial plan was to integrate this into my existing xiaomi gateway gen.2 system. Can i know what automation network are you using together with the z-wave relay? and whether this item works with existing xiaomi network? don't mind doing some product hacks if necessary. i was planning to buy aqara wall switch for auto gate, luckily i read your post first. anyway i use the combination of xiaomi, wink hub and philips hue at home. googling about home assistant, will try to configure it this weekend since i have raspberry pi 2 laying around without any usage. i'm thinking of weather proofing the xiaomi door / window sensor to attach it to my auto gate.
anyone has any tips for doing this? the idea at the moment is to spray coat it with rubberized paint, like the one found in Mr. DiY. Wonder this works the prevent water damage to the sensor and at the same time can be cheaply opened up when it is time for battery replacement.
Open to suggestions.

hi all, i have a 30A switch (on/off) that controls my water pump in the attic. i would like to know if there's any way i can convert this to become a smart/wifi enabled switch to be controlled by my phone.
also if this can be the start of my home automation venture, then what is the best solution i should look for?

QUOTE(alucard89 @ Aug 4 2017, 06:37 AM) Oh you're right, got any other smart switch that support >30A? The pump won't be using more than 10A. probably 5A or less if for household use. But the starting Amp is high depend the load. probably 6x if using the 30A switch. Normal relay like Sonoff probably cannot handle the inrush current. The best way for such motor pump automation is to use contactor to switch ON/OFF. Use the Sonoff to control the contactor. Wiring is easy and the contactor is cheap too.

Not the ON/OFF switch. The function of the switch is just cutoff the power manually.
