I'm using smartthings, it support z-wave, zigbee, wifi, TCPIP LAN protocol.

Xiaomi use zigbee/TCPIP, it doesn't use z-wave, unless you know how to hack into xiaomi zigbee outlet, it is kinda difficult to integrate autogate system to xiaomi echosystem.

smartthings can integrate to all xiaomi devices, probably you can think about to switch to smartthings  sweat.gif  brows.gif

thanks for sharing the info.
smartthings is from samsung right? the last time i check, it was quite pricey.
i don't think i would switch since i'd invested into a few xiaomi items. would look into way to expand the functions.
they worked quite nicely and quality seems good considering their price point.

speaking of auto gate, is there any way to detect that it is closed properly?
i am planning to attach the xiaomi door sensor to the gate, but scared it is not weather proof.
any 3rd party sensor to do the trick?

If you plan to automate existing lights/fan at house you could consider replacing the wall switch with wifi wall switch like sonoff t1
And you'll need to have neutral cabled wired behind the wall switch since it's required for these switches

https://www.itead.cc/sonoff-t1.html

Google home skills is planned and coming soon, for the moment you can just the app or alexa.

I have broadlink RM pro & S1 system that integrate door magnet sensor & PIR sensor for IFTTT features & link with alexa. Wonder this sonoff or wifi switch, can it work in IFTTT features with any system door magnet sensor, PIR & etc? Does Homeassistant have simple interface to setup own IFTTT without much programming guide? Smartthings hub seems good but expensive accessory. Wonder r all china wifi, zigbee or z-wave accessory compatible with other brand hub like smartthings? Should i get smartthings hub just becoz i wana add xiaomi fire smoke sensor?
I will learn to setup homeassistant once i bought a raspberry pi

I have a z-wave contact sensor to monitor the autogate, it has external contact input, so it can monitor two door/gate. I wired a long cable from the z-wave conact to the autogate, and place the generic alarm magnet contact sensor on the autogate, so far so good, no need to worry waterproof or overheat issue

IFTT is supported with homeassistant although i haven't explored that yet. There's a complete guide for it on home assistant website.

https://home-assistant.io/components/ifttt/

Once you add sonoff i think there's no problem to automate with other components added to HA. For me I'm still trying to pair with xiaomi gateway/motion sensor but I need to get the 2nd gen gateway first.

I'd recommend to try HA first before getting other more expensive home automation solution because it's well free.
See what you can control with it
You don't need to even have raspberry pi, you could get it running on your on pc for testing purposes. There's also cheaper single board pc like orange pi zero that only cost rm38

No one has t1 yet, still in pre order
Should be similar to sonoff touch

Just sharing here, if you guys wanna save more if you buy in bulk from itead website.
You can send the address to china (prouter warehouse for example) and you'll be charged 1.49 usd only. Once arrived to warehouse, you can proceed to pay based on prouter rate rm18/kg & rm9 next 500g.
Definitely saves more than usd10 for the basic registered air mail option and you can expect item delivered after 5 days.

You'll need one of those z-wave usb stick

And for xiaomi smart home, just need to get the hub key in developer mode (which I can't generate properly with 1st gen hub for some reason)

They'll be shipping starting in 1st august, you're welcome to join my bulk order to share shipping cost biggrin.gif

You can get it to work with alexa/google home but you'll have to use the rm bridge android app or home asistant.

With sonoff t1, you just setup to connect with wifi using ewelink app and it's automatically linked to ewelink skill for alexa (obviously you'll also need to scan for new device on the alexa app)

i always forget to turn off my charger so I bought a smart plug for it. now i can turn it off even im not at home

strangely it doesnt connect with my wifi's guest network (my sonoff connected ok)
i also noticed that my sonoff is version 1.5.2 and my s20 smart plug is 1.5.5
dunno if that has got to do with it

have you guys updated to v1.5.5? also do you know what is the "loop timer" setting for? (see pic)

Wah, got IR thermometer. Macam Pro. drool.gif

Long didn't go into the apps. Till you mention and check. My apps also upgrade to 1.5.5.

Something different and add in some function.

Loop timer is timer in a state that keep on looping ON/OFF. Or easily said, ON and OFF given how many time to ON/OFF, delay or ON everytime ON/OFF.

Your aircon crazy liau? This IR themometer is mostly for spot checking area. Or smaller area checking. If for enviroment or room temperature, this not suitable.

Put a thermometer in the room la.

I stick a thermometer on the wall. I can check the different or any unusual temp anytime.

People also use IR thermometer to check the temperature at aircond vent area to determine whether the air temperature right at the vent is reflective to it's "suppose" temperature or not.

The air temp at the vent area is always lower than the setting value, if it is non-inverter aircon, the air coming out is always fixed at certain temperature, most likely around 20 degree or lower.

Ok la. Play play around with the IR.

But the reading you get from the vent will have the different from the "suppose" temp. If your "suppose" temp is the remote setting temp.

Cause the aircon thermometer is not locate at the vent area. But the evaporator fin side. The vent area is always have a lower temp compare the remote and the room temp.

Ya, you are right. An experience aircond guy shall know what is the "suppose" temperature.
