Hi,

i had the same idea of modding my auto gate and even went and bought a Xiaomi Aqara wall switch for this but ended up not working in the end as i only noticed the different voltage involved. My initial plan was to integrate this into my existing xiaomi gateway gen.2 system.

Can i know what automation network are you using together with the z-wave relay? and whether this item works with existing xiaomi network?

don't mind doing some product hacks if necessary.

i was planning to buy aqara wall switch for auto gate, luckily i read your post first.
anyway i use the combination of xiaomi, wink hub and philips hue at home.

googling about home assistant, will try to configure it this weekend since i have raspberry pi 2 laying around without any usage.

yeah, luckily u checked. if not end up with an expensive switch like me.

btw, have you successfully integrate your xiaomi, wink and philips configuration?
does this involve changing the xiaomi gateway system?

i haven't do anything yet with home assistant, just googling around,
but in terms of hardware i think i have everything to start working on it.

My smarthome integration with google assistant/home is almost complete, managed to get auto gate to work by voice command to google assistant.
I use broadlink universal pro remote which support 433mhz and integrate it with home assistant, from home assistant integrate with google using google actions.
For automation logic like auto on aircond when room is ho and occupied i use mi home ecosystem. It’s cheap and reliable. I heard very soon they will integrate mi home with alexa and google home. Yeelights already support all those things.

Hi Sifus,

I'm planning to start to integrate smat stuff into my home and wanted to start small first. So far my research come up with sonoff and broadlink tc2.

Just need to confirm my understanding. Sonoff is connected to their cloud hence hub not needed. For Broadlink tc2, you will need the rm pro hub as well, because the tc2 sends RF signal to the hub and that's where you control from the app right? So the TC2 itself doesn't have wifi function in it just sending rf signals to the hub. (which i think also would have lower electricity consumption?)

I'm planning to integrate those to google home.

Thanks!

For wall switch I recommend xiaomi aqara wall switch if you already have mi gateway, the quality is good and right now the price in gearbest almost half the price buying from local seller

It communicate with gateway using zigbee

Can you share your source or info regarding the mi home integration with Google home? I am assuming this is the 'official' feature opened up by xiaomi? Or is this done using other workarounds?

I am in the process of building a raspberry server to host either domoticz or home assistance which is widely discussed here, but if xiaomi now enables Google integration then that would be awesome.

yeelight staffs are very responsive. kudos to them.

All servers except China will support Alexa/IFTTT/GoogleHome. For China server, Xiaomi has its own voice control device named Xiao AI, works just as Alexa.
based on them all xiaomi servers outside of china will support google home, alexa and IFTTT soon.
china server will support xiaomi own voice
some users who are installed pre release version of mi home app already reported they can see mi gateway is on the list of device we can add for singapore server but it's not working yet.

if most of xiaomi devices are supported by google home, home assistant is not really useful for me now, for automation logic i can just use mi home app since i mostly use mi home ecosystem at home, for door lock most likely i will buy august smart lock, amazon can ship to malaysia.
for those devices supported by google home like switch, light, remote etc, can setup command in google home.

Where cheapest to buy a google home mini? Got a Philips hue starter kit and want to try it out. Tq
*
if you have android or iphone can use google assistant to pair and do voice command accordingly.
you should buy yeelights for much cheaper option and does not require hub.
philips hue app is very slow and outdated.

yeelights support both alexa and google home/assistant as long as you connect the lights using singapore server.

how good are these alternatives? another issue is wifi, in order to cover the whole house, i guess we need mesh system
if not using mesh system, would the bulbs have issue with the wifi connection?

what do you mean by home assistant running? only thing i have been using now is ha bridge
*
before i install mesh wifi at home, yeelights still connecting well
so i guess no issue unless your house is super big.
my house is double storey terrace house.

Managed to get brand new Google Home mini from ebay for RM275. High positive feedback and star rating seller. Quite confident not scam. I was planning to buy Echo Dot all the while until I found out Alexa struggles with two accounts. Example - My account's spotify playlist, calender etc and my wife's profile and so on. I liked the idea Home will be smart enough to recognise my voice and cater to my account specifically.

Any idea where to find diffuser for light strips?
*
no worries buying from ebay, even if it is scam, you will always get your refund.

Ow...thanks for the info.
Yeelight can straight connect to house wifi without any additional hardware, right?
*
yes, but if you want to integrate with alexa or google home/assistant make sure you connect to singapore server

About yeelights, are there any particular version to get? Let’s say for the RGB type. Thanks and how is mesh Wi-Fi working for you? Better than your Nighthawk?
*
yes there are 2 versions, colour and white one.
price wise, white one should be around RM50 or below, the colour one around RM70??

mesh is fine but could not connect directly for unifi, i still use my nighthawk as bridge and the mesh act as access point only biggrin.gif
if you use time no problem.
i actually use only 2 at home and another one i put in my airbnb apartment which connect directly with time.
coverage is much better even with only 2.

for double storey house, i think 2 unit is enough, 3 is overkill.

It seems there are some complications now to integrate mi to HA. Will try it out myself and report back.

the best solution is buy homekit compatible hub, it will integrate with HA without any issues.
