I’m using the relay from Athom, so far Wi-Fi uptime is pretty good. Rarely observe disconnect. Has apple HomeKit integration directly.

QUOTE(trespasser @ Sep 6 2023, 11:43 PM) Thanks again for the confirmation. I am using Aqara M2 Global Hub connected to "Other" server. Some of my newer switches from China (there was a few D1) that can't link via "Other" server. So I just did HomeKit mode for these, which means I lose some capability such as wattage consumption monitoring etc. But given the choice again, I would just get China hub and connect to China server instead. But I'm too lazy to link all 40+ again... and all my automation and namings done in HomeKit already Want to ask also whether is it possible buy the smart switches from Taobao? Will it be regionally locked? What are the cons to be encounter if buy via Taobao? Any brands that can circumvent region lock? If not mistaken, it was the switches I ordered directly from Taobao didn't work (these I ordered mainly to get the black casing which isn't sold here in Malaysia)... and one of the switches which I ordered from a local shop also didn't work. |

QUOTE(thinkgoodpositive @ Sep 7 2023, 08:19 AM) Thanks for the response. For the smart switches and generally newer traditional switches, only have one Live in, the rest is to switches. But original I have 3 switches (each one 3 Gangs). And there are looping power. That's why I need to loop the power/live between their "L". Then each switch L1/L2/L3 will only connect to each fan/light. Any problems? |

QUOTE(simmarjit @ Sep 8 2023, 12:14 AM) I think the other guy could try to change to China server and connect them, but he will need to reconnect everything; i had to go through that. Are the switches from taobao even much cheaper than the ones on Shopee tho? If you are planning to use the Aqara hub, as long as they can pair with the hub then yes it connects to HA. Yeah, but since it works in HomeKit mode don’t plan to reconnect. Unless I replace hub in the future then can consider 😆. |

QUOTE(simmarjit @ Sep 8 2023, 09:52 PM) Well you are already using M2, probably will never need to unless also changing all the switches. I have a pair of E1 Smart Switch because seller sent wrongly to me, eventually they sent me D1 replacements so untung lah. First impression the E1 takes much less space behind the switch compared to D1, and its easier to finetune the switch position (mine mostly installed on carpentry without the electricals boxes). You using any E1 switches by any chance? How are they compared to the D1? I think the E1 relay sounded louder than the D1, other than that no differences in terms of performance. Need use longer to see if the E1 is as durable as the D1. |

QUOTE(simmarjit @ Sep 9 2023, 12:40 AM) Actually not to say untung larh, E1 isnt the direct upgrade of D1 its actually H1. E1 is supposed to be a cheaper version of H1. And even compared to D1, most of the max power rating of E1 is less than D1. I was considering getting some E1 stuff and mix with D1s or change everything to E1 and sell D1 stuff, but leceh and although the switches maybe cheaper or same price depending on the config, most of the sensors are like double the price so its pointless unless changing everything to Zigbee 3. I ordered D1s and gotten E1 + D1 🤣 hence I said untung haha. I use the E1 on my table switches where space below to pry open the switch cover is limited. BTW on Lazada Kilobits store, there is a deal for Wireless D1 Switches, i feel its at a ridiculous price. I think no need to replace everything to E1. Well for me I rarely go touch the buttons and frankly I also forgot I have E1 until you asked 😆. |

QUOTE(epicure @ Sep 14 2023, 02:04 PM) Mine is less than 1 year too, so far the seller haven't responded... ah doi. Well the switch still works so I'll probably just leave as it is until the switch spoils completely. |

QUOTE(simmarjit @ Sep 17 2023, 03:15 PM) Ok i shall stay away from these screen switches larh ..it defo looks cool tho. Last time when I bought, the S1E costs about RM130 so its about the same price as 3-gang D1. But ah doi, durability no good. Now I just set them to turn off screen during standby, not so eye sore Waiting for my last few switches to arrive and the big migration will begin, gonna be a pain in the ass to repair all my zigbee stuff, hopefully it will be worth it. |

Does it have a relay click when pressed? I have about 40+ D1 connected to Aqara M2, automation via Apple Home.Relay click yes. |

QUOTE(simmarjit @ Sep 18 2023, 11:19 AM) Not tempted to change to E1 instead? Its cheaper LOL. I have 2x E1 (seller sent wrongly, but seller also resend me with new D1). Actually I prefer E1 design than D1, the E1 is easier to replace, no need to peel the case off from bottom like D1.Wow 40 is crazy, i am guessing your changes all the switches. I have too many unused switches so it doesnt make sense changing all of them, wish there was like a switch that looks exactly like aqara ones but its dumb instead. Only 1 M2? Yes, my entire home is smart switch (minus 1 of them is my storeroom LOL). Too bad Aqara no 20A switches, else I would change those too. just to have it looking similar I have a lot of switches to control those cabinet lights and ambient lighting... having smart switch makes it very easy to change different scenes. Rather than manually switching 1 by 1. My visitors always gets impressed when I change scenes LOL. Normally I run the downlights, but when got visit I have a few different scenes especially at my living hall where different config of lights will be used. |

QUOTE(simmarjit @ Sep 18 2023, 11:44 AM) Owh yea you mentioned earlier ...i actually did buy a few E1 during 9.9. I like it because the hump at the back is so much smaller so no issues with fitment. Oh yes the E1 are way smaller than D1! Makes it more usable in those less deep sockets. But then again, E1 has much lower rating la, I’m guessing the D1 is more robust? Hopefully 😅.Yea i would love if there were Aqara 20A ones, i went with Smatrul ones that look like switches, going to replace my existing Sonoff ones which are that glass ones. I have a few switches that I ordered from China for the black casing for D1 too. So far 20A I’m only looking to use it for my solar heater 🤣sometimes when I turn it on then forget to turn off 😅 |

QUOTE(WildChai @ Sep 18 2023, 01:55 PM) sounds great. How do you deal with smart switches that are connected/powering lights that can be dimmed? I have some GU10 that can be dimmed (Tuya based). I just control On and Off with the switch anyways, but I also set some scenes in Tuya app and expose the scenes to HomeKit which is triggered wireless switch... Generally use this in my movie room where I have fully bright mode, then dim mode, and cove light mode only for the dimmable lights.I bought one of the new 3 gang Aqara Z1 for testing, very premium build and feel but the relay click is quite noticeable and annoying. After testing...might go for full house conversion. Thing is, my cheapo moes or smatrul switch can barely hear the relay click Speaking about the relay click, last time I considered Terncy... I recalled their neutral has softer clicking, while the non neutral clicking is way louder and has tiny bit of lag. QUOTE(simmarjit @ Sep 18 2023, 02:29 PM) Actually there is one which has a digital timer on it, so like you can manually set how long you want to run it for. Mine actually is solar, so generally I don't need to turn on at all but instead every month turn on for 15 minutes just to get it running.I have notifications sent when its been on for 30 minutes, 1.5 hours and 3 hours just in case for mine through HA. Last time i did have plans to calculate average temperature outside from 10-5 so that it can automatically turn on for awhile at like 5/6 AM but didnt end up using that LOL, maybe should just put a thermometer where the boiler is and get info that way. I have similar concept whereby my cordless vacuum, to maintain battery at 50-80% state, I have dummy switches whereby I press then it will enable charge for 1hr or 2hr depending on situation.
