There are inching ones with 12V input also right? Either way you could have also tap the live wire from before the transformer to your auto gate box, put another transformer to 12V and then power a 12V device that way, i use that to power Shelly and also a camera at my gate. Before that i was tapping through the battery as well.

The relay board I had, DC in didn't work not sure why. Only the USB5V worked so I used that.

But that's the past lor, now the T2 direct take AC in and works fine.

Should I prioritize wall + ethernet for CCTV or just POE?
*
Don't quite understand, but generally if you have Ethernet then there's PoE already as long the camera supports it and your switch has a power source for it.

As I understand, POE requires either injector or the switch to support POE. But my (possibly outdated) understanding is also that POE has a slightly higher risk of non-standard components causing devices to fry/burn (because of the increased voltage supplied). If my entire network no POE then theoretically less risk for all the wired devices (but then would need power point for every camera).

My CCTV are all PoE... so far ok la. Got 1 special wasn't PoE which connects to my NVR via network + injector.

Using hikvision PoE switch.

I'm using Phillips with face detect... 8x AA battery lasts me 1 year+ which I think quite ok. I could do it with 1 set of those 1.2V AA batteries too, just gotta charge every 6 months instead.

Hello sifus, I would like to check if EVA or reTouch brand smart switches are ok? Specifically the no neutral/no capacitor kind.

Salesperson tells me that no neutral or capacitor is required, which is counter to my knowledge of smart systems in general (need neutral/capacitor to ensure steady small current in switch or circuit).

Can anyone verify whether that is possible?
*
Yes, I do use some Aqara no neutral (no capacitor). Works fine.

you can use china stuff on homekit?
*
Yeah, I'm using Global M2 Hub, and all my child devices are controlled locally and connected via China server... Aqara M2 --> HASS --> HomeKit

Why are you connected via China server if your hub is global version?
*
Because my newer D1 switches can't connect to global server... so the other day when I was migrating to HA I decided to migrate everything to China server on Aqara side.

Your D1 is China version?

This will be my first time diving into Home Assistant.

You reckon I can do Aqara China child devices -> Aqara China hub -> Home Assistant -> Google Home and to be controlled by Google Home mini?
*
Aqara Hub will connect to HA via HomeKit integration... I'm not familiar with HA --> Google Home though.

Most if not all are China model, just 80% are much older ones which no such issue but the newer ones had limitations. Last time I just connected in HomeKit mode only.

I was getting annoyed because HA scene can only add by device and not by entity... until I realized there is an advanced mode which then allows me to do scene by entity too... Dang it dry.gif

Single phase? How much does he charge to install a 3pin socket next to the switches? If cheaper, do that, later can change to switch yourself and tap the neutral from there.
*
Assume using same ELCB right? If different ELCB will cause trip?

I'm not sure about this. The neutrals I tapped from are from the same MCB.
*
My neutral always tap back from the same circuit, and for my house the lighting point and switch and the hot water all different ELCB... 0.1, 0.03 and 0.01 I think... hence I think if different ELCB will trip.
