i think he meant the crossover frequency set for your sub? like 80Hz 100Hz etc.

for front actually hehe brows.gif Sub normally set low cross at 120hz for the standard theater setup.. if u set it to 80hz and ur front set 120hz then u will be missing 80hz to 120hz freq response. something like tat

no idea .. i use the analogue dial behind the sub to adjust
if just by looking at the dial positiion and numbers .. i would guess around 50-60 hz
sub gets input signal via main speakers connection ... not sub out from amp
sub out controls in amp is set to NOT USE so all bass signal in the system gets passed to main speakers

very rare kind of setup.. the normal 1 i see is to have full signal to subwoofer and from subwoofer pass back mid n high freq to mains.

In your case i think the setup from amp is to have full range to be send to your main where low freq will be pass back to sub. nod.gif

not sure if you have a GUI similar like below.

The setting of 80hz for center is the cross over setting for center.

I m more familiar to audessey but i believe yahama should have something similar for your ypao
*
i just let the yamaha do whatever settings it needs to do
i just set the speakers sizes and do the setup using YPAO

the yamaha amp used is below par for mission .. but i am actually quite happy with what i am getting now
i know it can be alot better .. but that road to glory knows no ends and budget lol.gif

lets put it this way ... when i sent my speakers for repairs i listened to custom built dynaudio speakers at mr Oh's place
those dynaudio may sing just a tad sweeter driven by dedicated stereo amp and source
but not by that much la ... me using PC as source only nowadays

all my CDs and vinyls lie collecting dust .. even my old turntable broke and was given away liau
CD player too broke and was thrown away lol.gif

when u listen in straight stereo mode .. u would want the main speakers to get the best and full signals
signal for sub tapped from mains for better coherence according to REL la .. which i find good

i think you still can explore more with the crossover setting if you want to.. i will improve your current setup too.. even my audessey does the reading.. i will still adjust the level, speeaker size and crossover myself for some minor tuning.

ideally yes.. for stereo mode but when we want to go for 2.1 then the crossover need to be tweak so that the low freq will flow to sub rather than main or some ppl will do lfe+main for double bass. depends on the system a lot of posibilities for the bass management smile.gif

denon call double bass or front +Lfe. oops u ady mention. i missed out haha
depend u connect Rca cable (low signal) or use speaker wire (high level) to subwoofer. can increase coverage from front direction as long the room is suitable

yea something new to me too..

normally we do
avr -> front (speaker binding post) + sub (LFE)
OR some
avr -> sub -> main

but his setup is
avr -> main -> sub

this is something new to me.. really an eye opener blush.gif

i guess is high level input. expensive subwoofer can support signal loop from speakers

Go THX certified cinema to watch movie then...
but i found nowadays THX cinemas' bass effect lesser already. still remember 10-15 years back when I first time experience THX watching Hollow Man, the bass effect damn deep and loud, can feel the quake on floor. My mother cannot tahan and falls sick "headache and fever" after watching that movie....

bright means two thing.
1. room is smaller than actual specs
2. over loudness from side speakers
