Traditional spoil because of the time or wear and tear? Means if we no using download movie to hdd or erase data on hdd then it will last longer?
*
Yup (wear and tear), if didnt use it frequently and keep it safe and sound. It will last longer (most likely).

1. Preferred Brand - Any
2. Budget - 2.6k
3. Usage - Work (and Dota 2 when I'm back to Kampung)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - any

Would prefer if the laptop have SSD (or easy to upgrade to SSD without voiding the warranty)

any recommendation?
*
With your budget, you wont be able to get SSD right out the box but be able to get Hybrid HDD. You may need to swap out the HDD to SSD or use a caddy to add in the SSD. Might need to call the service center to ask about voiding warranty.

Oh well, I guess I'll have to give up on finding Sony Vaio laptop.

But anyways, I need recommendations please.

1. Preferred brand - Any
2. Budget - Below RM 2k
3. Usage - Normal student usage, like some browsing lah...some gaming lah...some movies lah...some school stuffs (if have any)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - 14-15"
Plus, I want a laptop with Intel Core i5, 4GB RAM, Nvidia or AMD graphic card, and a good battery life for a Windows laptop. Thanks.  biggrin.gif
*
I'm assuming light gaming. With the budget, you'll get normal battery life 2-3 hours (depend on how you use).

Dust wont spoil stuff unless there is heat involved. Service center dudes sometimes lazy to do diagnostics so just say spoil and stuff (From what i have experience).

Did they give anny explanation instead of just spoiled?

Hey guys, i'm helping my lil bro with his first lappy

1. that provide good warranty service
2. RM2k +-
3. Play runescape and assignment
4. at least i5 and 11.6-13"

weight around 2kg+-
*
Hmm, might squeeze in some 14 inch because of budget and your requirements. The mass would still be around 2Kg +/-
Don't think there will be 11.6 to 13 inch laptops with i5 that is within your budget albeit small amount.

Example of your minor games and could you explain "need big space" and do your assignments make full use of the IOS applications (IE Video editing coding etc)?

Minor games like The Sims, GTA etc
I will be needing big space for my video edits and pictures. And even if theres alot of space taken I dont want my laptop to be lagged :/ then only I transfer them to my hard disc.
And having an IOS app is an advantage for me. But if my budget is low then I still can live without it and have other software for my video editing.
*
Getting the gaming laptop is because of the i7 MQ/HQ for faster video editing and if you have extra budget left upgrade to the maximum ram allowed by the laptop system to further increase performance and the GPU can handle the games well. Also GTA (I assuming the latest is not minor sweat.gif ).

Asus
G551JM-DM053H – 15.6” FHD / i7-4710 / 8GB / 1TB / GTX860 4GB / 6 Cell / W8.1 : RM3920/-

Dell
Inspiron 7447 – 14” / I7-4710 / 8GB / 1TB / GTX850M 4GB / W8.1 : RM2940

HP (Would not recommend this unless you dont mind the heat. I'm using one)
HP Envy Touchsmart 15 HP ENVY 15-q203TX – 15.6” FHD Touch / i7-4712HQ / 8GB / 1TB + 8GB NAND / GTX850M 4GB / W8.1 : RM3670/-

Lenovo
Lenovo Y50-70 5943-8437 – 15.6” FHD / I7-4710HQ / 8GB / 1TB SSHD 8GB / GTX860M 4GB / W8.1 / RM3790

As for Apple, don't think you can get the performance as good as the above laptops for the same price point.

Feel free to ask any questions.

EDIT : The lagged part might be from RAM or the HDD which can be improve by adding more RAM and changing the HDD to SSD or your desktop is just too cluttered which can be improve by removing temporary files and the likes using softwares.

Hi ,

1. Preferred brand - Any
2. Budget - rm 3.5k
3. Usage - Gaming ( I tend to play new games but i don't mind playing it in lowest quality ) , Assignments in Uni , Net surfing
4. Preferred - screen size of 15'' is enough

Additional notes :
- good cooling system as i am a heavy user so i hope my laptop wont overheat easily
- easy to upgrade

p.s i saw the MSI GP60 2QF LEOPARD PRO ( gtx 950m 2gb ddr3 ) and the specs seems awesome considering the price ( 3.5k ) but i can't seem to find any review or video or display of this model , so anyone using this model can pls share their experience with it ? thanks

thank you for your help !

As for the MSI model it is prefer to get GE 62/72 and GT series as the newer model 62/72 has better cooling system but it is out of your budget. So far, best cooling system is the Lenovo (From what i have gathered.)

Feel free to ask any questions.

Hi all~

1. Preferred brand: Any, except Acer and Illegear (due to certain reasons i have to forget Illegear, i now its a good choice  sweat.gif  )
2. Budget - Around 5k and below, aimed for 4.5k(+/-) to allow extra for upgrade RAM or SSD, its optional tought, maybe no need too.
3. Usage - autocad, 3d modeling/rendering (works), high gaming sometimes
4. Preferred screen size - 15+ or 17+

i have planned to purchase MSI GE72-2QD (RM4.599) and now included GST already become RM5,199 !! that already created some dilemma to my pocket, therefor have to seek for other options.  i have looking for GTX960m laptop on other brand yet  only know MSI have them with my budgeted price, and Illegear too.

Up to date option, older MSI (GE70) or Asus ROG or Lenovo Y50....

Thanks in advance

Well, for your budget Quadro and Firepro would be out of budget. So, the best is getting better GTX cards with the extra cuda core but less precision and software optimization. The i7 HQ/MQ would be sufficient. As for MSI GE70, i would not recommend it as the cooling system is not really good. While the 960M is faster than 860m it is essentially the same card with the 960m clock speed higher (Faster GHz).

Feel free to ask any question.

Preferably laptop that can be easily customize. Like changing parts, overclock etc.
Want to start playing with hardware.

My current lappy and desktop is very limited.

With your budget. Nope cant get any. Unless your "parts" is ram, hdd and OD. Best is to get desktop for that.

Well with your requirement. You would be getting gaming grade laptops even though you don't seem to be gaming nonetheless you can't go wrong with it. (CPU at least 2.4 GHz).

As for reliability, illegear and dell have the good after sales service while Asus is the worst. All of them the cooling system is good except the Asus if i remember correctly (Acer need to do some tweaking).

Also, if not mistaken. You can easily swap the HDD,RAM and the OD.

Feel free to ask any question.

Sorry for disturbing ya, but thanks for the recommendation, very nice!

illegear z5 too eye catching, I dont want people to target my lappy.
I think 17.3" screen too long for my bag.
Will avoid Asus and Acer then. I use lappy for long period, and run lots of program, heavy user, definitely will be very very hot.

By comparing illegear Q5 with MSI with Lenovo with Dell XPS15 which is best?
*
If you're a heavy user. I suggest you get the one with good after sale service because of the way you use it and with good after sale service. Hopefully the problem will be resolved quicker and basically giving you a peace of mind. Do note the terms and condition of the warranty.

All the laptops cooling system will be able to handle the temp. Cant say much about XPS15 though since i dont know the specs.

In the end, choose the one you prefer. Happy Hunting. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif or wait for other sifu for their inputs. nod.gif

Associate too much with gaming. I just need to get my job done, I don't game that much these days.Build material bad, plastic feeling? Not so familiar with this brand, where does this brand come from? Malaysia? Taiwan? Not sure how this is, but screen is definitely overkill for me. laugh.gif

Then refresh i suppose since you don't game. Then again the CPU might be lower in GHz.

Lenovo (One of the best quality laptop.)

Lenovo thinkpad is one of the best in terms of quality and dell one of the best after sale service. Since you dont game on laptops, dont worry much about the heat. But if it feels warmer after using for a long time then open up the laptop to clean the dust off. Also, try to increase the capacity of the RAM to at least 8Gb nod.gif .

Essentially the business grade laptop is good. Latitude, Thinkpad etc. Extra budget you can change HDD to SSD or increase RAM or get another monitor for your coding. nod.gif

My bad. I thought you were gonna game. Was in a hurry last night so my apologies...... doh.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

Happy hunting buddy. biggrin.gif

Wanna ask all sifus here on which laptop to buy…currently thinking on changing a new laptop I have no idea to choose 1
My budget is at RM3k
I use my laptop to do some programming(edit GUI and coding), normal gaming(Dota 2 or other normal settings games), watching full HD movies surfing net and others…and I need a nice full HD screen if possible, but the biggest screen I can go for is 15.6 inch I guess...haha
So how all sifus? Thanks in advance! =D

Sure but you are limited by your budget and the screen size will be smaller to 14inch.
