Mainly office/browsing use, video/movies.
Not into gaming smile.gif

Need a better battery life one, and maybe better service?
*
If for both option and seeing how you would use them. Get the Hp better after sales (From my experience). Since you dont game, heat wont be much of an issue. But if it gets warmer after long use just open up the laptop and dust the dust off from the heatsink and fan.

ya, from mid end to high end. Wouldnt really want a high end straight.

Could get a mid end then upgrade it. If that way is better.

So the choices left are MSI GE60, MSI GE62, Illegear Q5.
Will look about it.

The lenovo T440P and dell latitude is only 14". Preferably 15" and above, below 17", considering my laptop bag size is small.

Dell XPS15 is good, but it over budget already, 5K and below only. sad.gif
It offer i5 too, should I stick with i7 since I always complain computers are slow? unsure.gif
*
All right. Seems you have already have some in your mind. Computer slow because of HDD or RAM.

If you have the budget to do so. Swap the HDD to SSD, you'll never go back to HDD (This i can promise tongue.gif ). RAM (for me at least) minimum 8Gb well with the way your using your laptop might as well go for the maximum allowed by the laptop.

For me i would consider MSI GE62 and Illegear. As the older model GE60 doesn't really have a good cooling system.

Now again happy hunting my friend. thumbup.gif

So, no Dell anymore?

I dont really game these days, is it ok if I use gaming laptop to get my job done?
Would it be overkill?

Choices left are now MSI and Illegear only? hmm.gif

Hmm, if you say computer slow mostly because of HDD or RAM,

I worry SSD lifetime only, it might died after some time right? Like my pendrive.
RAM definitely need at least 8GB already.

What about CPU? i7/i5? quad core/dual core? 2.4 above? unsure.gif

Seems like gaming type laptop is only in this range.
*
Yes and no about pen drive. The quality of pen drive and SSD is different as SSD will last longer. There have been a recent endurance test done. It will be more than sufficient provided you take good care of your laptop.

I might be wrong but if you are not gaming ir rendering stuff. Normal U processor is sufficient though compiling code might be longer. That said yes it is nothing wrong having a gaming laptop to do your work but you never know when you're gonna game again. tongue.gif

Hi, may I know which one is the best?

1. Asus A550JK-DM138H
2. Dell Inspiron 7447
3. Lenovo Y50-70 (8107)

Thank you in advance.
*
Assuming your usage is for gaming (because of gaming specs.).

If you are the type that requires the settings to be as high as possible then the Lenovo would suit you as it has the better GPU. While the Dell and Asus GPU isnt as good as the Lenovos but are able to game perfectly fine with reduce setting.

Cooling wise would be Dell and Lenovo.

After sale services is definitely Dell.

Happy hunting. biggrin.gif

Feel free to ask any questions.

EDIT : Screen wise lenovos isnt that good. Has a lot of complaint.

I still dont want to go 100% full SSD. (Solution below -Please give feedback)
I killed 2 pendrive of mine. Data corrupt suddenly, its just tragic.

So confirmed my requirements:
Below 5K
Low Profile (Not eye catching)
15" to 17" Full HD (Preferably IPS)
i7-4720HQ (At least 2.4GHz, quad core)
8GB DDR3L RAM at least (Future upgradable to 16GB Dual Channel DDR3)
Storage? 500GB enough. HDD/SSD? No, Solid State Hybrid Drive <-Solution
Graphic card? Make sure no lags in movie and some small games will do.
Optical disc drive is a must!
Cooling and support service is very important.

The answer I got: Illegear Q5... so far.
Any more laptop to add in for comparison?

Feel free to correct any mistakes. smile.gif
*
Looks fine to me. You can use the remaining budget to get extra warranty or increase your RAM capacity. nod.gif

If you choose Q5. It fits well enough.

EDIT : It seems you still doubt SSD quality compared to Pendrive. Hopefully, you'll change your mind sooner or later.

Is hp laptop with beat speakers that good? i know hp is notoriuosly known for its heating issue....
*
So far any laptop with single fan and heatsink and it has considerate good GPU and CPU will heat up to uncomfortable level.

I'm using HP ENVY TS 15. Beats is usually on the Bass side, if you like it. It is good. thumbup.gif

Yup, heat is an issue because of the thin profile of my model. But with some tweaking it is under control. rclxms.gif

Yes, still doubt SSD quality.
Do you think 8GB of ram would be enough? Or should upgrade to 16GB?

*
Miong93 has explain the M.2 SSD to you.

So about RAM. When you get your laptop. Use it like you normally would then open up task manger to check your RAM if it still has reasonable space left. If it still has enough space, you are fine, don't need to increase but if you have the $$ to do so. Go ahead.

Thanks for the suggestion.

If I may ask, as you're suggesting Latitude over Vostro, whats the difference between them?
*
If i remember correctly, Vostro is entry level business laptop while latitude is the kinda the flagship so to speak.

Latitude more lasting compared to vostro.

Any though on HP Omen laptop..  Not many recommend it.. Look pretty oo
*
Yes it is pretty but medium specs. With the budget you can get better but if you like it that much and have the $$ to get it. Then by all means go get it. It can game pretty well with the 860m but of course don't expect ultra settings etc.

Yup.. Price bit to high with the spec..  But still.. Pretty one..
Btw..  I think i'll going for Asus G551jm.. But the 860m 4gb one already out of stock.. the coming new stock is 860m 2gb one..  Is it better i get the 2gb one where i googled..  the 4gb one kinda...'useless'..and price difference quite huge too..  Extra $ i may use it to upgrade ram to full 16gb or maybe a ssd..  Or any else upgrade i should...
*
Yup, for normal 1080p gaming 4Gb is a bit much but for 2Gb you might need to tone down some settings for some games. As for the extra $$ , yes it is better in adding RAM (should you need it) or get an SSD.

Most of the time the performance of the GPU is the bottleneck before even fully utilizing the max vRAM.

Would be guessing the stuff used for the laptop and/or lenovo is able to sell at lower price.

EDIT : The optical drive. One is included while the other is not. Did not realize this earlier doh.gif doh.gif
