From years back from what i heard, thermal pad is usually for the GPU while thermal paste for the CPU. Pad last longer then paste. But paste is more than enough.

Acer i heard has QC problem (From what i heard.)

Hard disk is prone to damage if it is drop because of the moving parts. That is why if you have $$ get SSD more resilient.

So if drop ssd not damaged liao? I heard ssd lifetime very short only 3 yrs

SSD doesn't require the "spinning" of disk to read/write data. So as long as the SSD and its component is intact, it will stick work (most of the time). That is also the reason why SSD generate significant lesser heat compared to HDD (I can't say no cause electric component sure will more or less generate some heat)

Well if you perform some serious intense hardcore read/write on your SSD everyday, it will GG after a few years. At least that is what I faced.

Traditional spinning hard disk would spoil when drop because the read/write arm might be damage (One of the important component) or the spining platter while SSD is like your normal pendrive but faster and better in quality.

Instead of a spinning platter and the read/write arm (The moving parts) they use the state of the solid to read/write from using microprocessor thus no moving parts thus less prone to damage.

Lifetime short might be because of the constant read/write. It will slowly destroy it.

Traditional spoil because of wear and tear while SSD is because of the electronics failure (Capacitor spoil, IC spoil ETC)

What I meant by "new" ones are the unused ones. But can I know which Sony store you went to? Most of them stopped selling it because Vaio is not under Sony anymore.

Traditional spoil because of the time or wear and tear? Means if we no using download movie to hdd or erase data on hdd then it will last longer?

1. Preferred Brand - Any
2. Budget - 2.6k
3. Usage - Work (and Dota 2 when I'm back to Kampung)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - any

Would prefer if the laptop have SSD (or easy to upgrade to SSD without voiding the warranty)

any recommendation?

With your budget, you wont be able to get SSD right out the box but be able to get Hybrid HDD. You may need to swap out the HDD to SSD or use a caddy to add in the SSD. Might need to call the service center to ask about voiding warranty.

I'm assuming light gaming. With the budget, you'll get normal battery life 2-3 hours (depend on how you use).
