IT is a very niche field in OnG. For the 800 people we have on site, we have no IT people. We have 2 IT people working across 3 sites and they're shared, so the ratio between normal workers to IT people in the field is easily 2000:1. APLNG being a 30 billion dollar project only has 20 full time IT people and most of them are seconded under contract from Hewlett Packard. QGC, Santos, Woodside and so on are pretty much the same.

OnG Field and Network Engineering (PAS/CSI) are the fields that are most related to IT, but require very specialist knowledge in networking and non-traditional protocols and PHY layers, so usually they take their ranks from IT people who have years of experience in the service provider level networking and instrumentation sector.

I am looking at a longer term. Sooner or later I might leaving this industry. Penat jugak bang kerja O&G tapi itulah buat sementara ini kena gagahkan hati dan perasaan. Ekonomi tak berapa baik sekarang so aku kena stay in the job to keep the show running and moving. Harap nanti generasi pelapis boleh taking over our roles. So aku kena lah jugak buka ruang pintu for the fresh grad. I used to be a fresh meat too last time.

Itulah niat aku sebenarnya. Aku tak pilih bulu. Nak tolong seberapa yang mampu.

ROC Oil is it taken over by a China company Fosun ?

Yes. What I know is Fosun is registered in Hong Kong but their main benefactor behind them is those billionaires from China. Dialog and Fosun Group is BFF. Dialog JV with ROC Oil for RSC field off Bintulu (Balai field).

That is not a wise thing to do but politely discuss with that particular HR company for your refusal. Diplomacy always the best solution.
