Is this the reason after 4pm , person who want open new account normally are rejected??

But asnb office business hour until 5pm right?

Sometimes 3.30pm banks ady don't wanna do. Say system slow.....

Btw, for Kuching area can try Maybank Satok. Did few transactions successfully there few months ago. Haven't tried lately though.

The 1 week break is for the dividend calculations and updating all the accounts, right?

Assume they have 100,000 unit holders, calculations will involve steps like these:
* calculate the dividend for month X using the minimum balance in that month
* repeat for the other 11 months
* sum up the monthly dividends
* add the yearly dividends to the balance

Number of steps = 12+1+1= 14

Round it off to 20 steps per account.

Then total = 20 * 100,000 = 2 million steps.

Using the old 1954 IBM 650 computer at 0.06 kIPS (0.06 kilo instructions per second), it will take it 2,000,000/60=33,333 seconds = 555.5 mins = 8.3 hours to complete the calculations and updating.

Even an OLD computer takes only 8 hrs to do the job. Why 7 days?
Using Intel Core i5 (83,000 MIPS), that should only take 2 million/83,000 million = 0.00002 second!
For the IT friends out there, hold your horses, yes, reading data from and writing data to memory are slower than just memory calcs. So, I am not comparing apple with apple. Ha.

That day I went to cheng branch , the asn counter after done all of my business regarding asnb , she ask me go counter 10 to understand more about close end fund (unit trust).

Looks attractive with 4.5-5 % minimum , lock off period 3 years , once maturity , can take all ur interest plus principal amount. I am considering it.
