Actually not really. From my few days of hunting for ASM, popular period to try for ASM is when bank open their doors (915am), after lunch (around 130) and when banks are closing (330-4pm).

I go and try my luck during those times (multiple times per day) and success rate 90+%. Daily trying and never returned empty handed. In the event one place have no catch, I go to another place.

Also maybe we should put on first page places which can try to open for you :

managed to open another AS1M (kid above 18) account today at CIMB Bangi. Also topped up 10k ASW2020 and 5k AS1M. First time to that branch, she accepted my request to open account with RM100, without even asking anything, she confidently collected RM100 and asked me to sit and wait.

I just dont know why same bank different branches got different policy, here despite me knowing all of them, they tell me no quota, so wont even try! But top up no problem.

Thinking ahead, later in life when you have retired, which one will you use to withdraw money for your expenses - EPF or ASX?

And why?

Just trying to see if there are things I should also consider.

Thanks.

I think there is also an age limit to the annual 60K top up. Age 60 I think.

Yes, a good point on the difficulty in topping up ASX.

No one looks at the difference in return % from EPF and ASX as to which one to use?

My gut feel is, ASX have higher return potential than EPF as EPF is just too big to maintain a high return, the effect of diminishing return with size.

So, with topping up difficulty & higher return, then it is better to preserve ASX and start using EPF first.

Any other factors to consider?

Cheerio.

Yape, because for EPF, we can always deposit monies into the account whenever we have extra cash..

But for ASNB fixed price funds depends on luck..

Don't know about age limit for topping up. Anyone can confirm?

What I know is they pay you interest until 75 years old. After that epf is useless.

ASX and epf returns more or less than same. Sometimes one is higher and sometimes the other is higher
