QUOTE(plumberly @ Apr 2 2015, 02:17 PM) Follow up from my frustrating experience yesterday. CIMB seems so easy, 1 shot got 8k ASM, no more money , otherwise i think can get more. feel like buying it for you guys who dont seem to be able to get, just treat KFC cukup la...Called the ASNB here. Initially I was told that I could not buy ASM due to system upgrading. I explained the ASNB memo on ASN (1-5 Apr) and ASX (5 Apr). Then she said with the system upgrading, it would be slow in getting ASM. First it is this, later that. Reminds me of MAS (Mana Ada System)! Asked about going to banks and was told it would be the same with the slow speed. Giving up. Now they don't deserve the title of being the branch with the highest ASX transactions in Malaysia! Ha. |

MGM [Wrong, for ASx U still get your PRORATED returns even if u sell (unless u cancel your book) on the FY end. For FD premature uplift the most u get is partial interest.]
In that case ASx is better than FD if we really dont lose out the dividend by withdrawing before dividend day. May be plumberly or any one expert in it, can help by doing some calculation on the dividends paid out as printed in our book, do we really get the dividend for all the days from the day we buy to the dividend payout day?. I only fear ASx may pay like EPF does, you bank in any day of the month you only get 1 day interest for that month.... This post has been edited by guy3288: Apr 9 2015, 10:30 PM |

QUOTE(wil-i-am @ Apr 9 2015, 10:29 PM) that means whatever we buy wont get paid till the following month? Wah rugi la if buy in 1st week of the month.let's put some examples ASX 1.1.15 B/F bal RM100k 2.1.15 buy 10k RM110k 10.1.15 buy RM50k RM160k 20.1.15 buy 50k RM210k 30.1.15 buy 50k RM260k Min in Jan 2015 = RM100k So for dividend calculation - for Jan 2015 based on RM100k only?? all those buys from 2.1.15 onwards no dividend till Feb 2015 start? Betulkah like this? |

QUOTE(MGM @ Apr 10 2015, 12:17 AM) I think all fixed price ASx has similar calculation for dividend. Got this from Great, i was about to ask for help. and i think i have calculated as mentioned above.http://invest-made-easy.blogspot.com/2013/...era-asb_28.html ASB Dividend Key Points About ASB Dividend: ASB Dividend and ASB Bonus are calculated differently and separately from one another. Dividend is calculated on a monthly basis over the duration of the year dividend is declared. We term the monthly dividend calculation as Monthly Dividend Amount. Total Dividend Paid for the year is the Sum of calculated Monthly Dividend Amount from Jan till Dec. To calculate the Monthly Dividend Amount for each month, the Lowest Account Balance for each month is used. Lowest Account Balance for a month is defined as the lowest value of your ASB account for that particular month. Let's see Example 1 to 3 below: Lowest Account Balance (Example 1): On 1st Jan 2013, your account balance in ASB is RM5000 You withdraw RM1000 on the 3rd of Jan 2013 You then Redeposit RM2000 into your ASB on the 10th of Jan 2013. What is your Lowest Account Balance for Jan 2013? Answer is RM4000.00 Lowest Account Balance (Example 2): On 1st Jan 2013, your account balance in ASB is RM5000 You deposit RM1000 on the 3rd of Jan 2013 You then withdraw RM2000 from your ASB on the 10th of Jan 2013. What is your Lowest Account Balance for Jan 2013? Answer is RM4000.00 Lowest Account Balance (Example 3): On 1st Jan 2013, your account balance in ASB is RM5000 You deposit RM1000 on the 3rd of Jan 2013 You then withdraw RM500 from your ASB on the 10th of Jan 2013. What is your Lowest Account Balance for Jan 2013? Answer is RM5000.00 Formula for ASB Dividend Calculation: Monthly Dividend Amount calculation= 1/12 x Dividend % x lowest-account-balance By obtaining the Monthly Dividend Amount from Jan till Dec, Total Dividend Paid = sum of Monthly Dividend Amount from Jan till Dec I found out by the calculation above, i should get RM10782. But the dividend stated in AMS book is only RM8362 on 1.4.2015. Attached please find the record i copied from all the entries from ASM. i added the entry for 1st of each month to ease dividend calculation for myself. Hope some sifu here can point out where is my mistake, ASM's amount should be correct right? aiyo i dont know how to attach the excel file leh... or even microsoft word also cannot.... |

QUOTE(MGM @ Apr 10 2015, 01:47 AM) Must salute to u wah, your method clean and neat, thanks. but i am still wondering why my method cant get the right dividend,Column A should be Monthly Minimum Balance. Goodnight. will sort out where i gone wrong later when free. QUOTE(plumberly @ Apr 10 2015, 09:39 AM) As promised earlier, my comparison (mainly due to the fact that ASM deposit in the first month does not earn any dividend) between FD and ASM is as below . thanks for confirming ASX should be better than FD, any where i can get a copy of your spreadsheet to calculate or rather check ASX dividend myself?Assumptions: * 1 month FD at 3.6% pa * compounded monthly FD dividends * ASM at 6.5% pa * ASM monthly dividend is not compounded * amount RM500,000 [attachmentid=4405525] If my calculations are right, the above tells me that it is better on first look (see note #1) to put the money in FD if it is 1 month before the ASM dividend date. You will get some $ from FD while zero from ASM. The breakeven point is 2 months before ASM dividend date where FD & ASM will give you about the same amount. BUT ... I am more than willing to lose out on the 1 month FD interest since ASM gives more than FD for the other cases (note #1), i.e., overall higher return. My 2 cents. Cheerio. QUOTE(prince_mk @ Apr 10 2015, 10:38 AM) you should have tried AS1M, i got 21k 9.45am at MBB, ASM only 4. |

Thanks, will save in my my computer, once a while can check if ASx pays us correctly or not..[attachmentid=4405823] Cannot attach xls file here (for virus control, I think). So I zipped it. Unzip it and open the xls file. You will have to delete all the example numbers in there. Delete and add in new numbers in yellow cells only. If the final dividend is not the same as in your passbook, let me know and I will see what is the error. Thanks. QUOTE(MGM @ Apr 10 2015, 02:35 PM) now no more jalan, same like u guys got to stand there at the counter.CIMB easy, all very friendly, willing to try repeatedly, with reducing amount. Last 3 days i got a pretty and very frenly MBB teller willingly filled up so many forms from repeated buys, but this am i got 1 not so good, requiring me to take another queue number as she said she could not keep serving me alone as others were waiting when in actual fact only 2 or 3 waiting for ASX counters and there are 3 ASX counters. i took another queue number, unfortunate got called to face her again, but she did buy another 3 times for me 2nd round. |
