Hi Sifu,

i'll be going to japan on from 30/5- 6/6.

30/5 - Arrived Narita Aiport (7:40AM), staying at Gotanda

30/5 - Shibuya, Shinjuku, Harajuku

31/5 - Shibuya, Shinjuku, Harajuku

1/6 - Leave for Hakone in the morning(stay overnight)
- kinda worried for this due to the volcano thingy, ryokan was booked days b4 the news

2/6 - Leave Hakone in the morning, staying around Ueno area
- afternoon - Ueno/Yanaka/Ameyoko
- evening - roppongi, tokyo tower

3/6 - Asakusa, Akihabara, Tokyo Dome, Kagurazaka

4/6 - Tsukiji, Imperial Palace/Park, Tokyo Station, Ginza, Yurakucho

5/6 - Odaiba or Shibuya again?

6/6 - Narita (10AM)

Is my itinerary too tight?

From narita to gotanda, i found there is 2 timing for the Keisei line 8:21 and 8:44. which is the most realistic train for me to board? scare the immigration part take a long time.

Hi all,
I'm planning to visit Japan from 24/06/2015 - 06/07/2015 inclusive.
We are thinking to do as below and would appreciate all the guidance all of you could provide us

24/06 - Arrive Tokyo Narita > Go to Kyoto

25/06 - Kyoto

26/06 - Kyoto

27/06 - Kyoto > Osaka > Back to Kyoto

28/06 - Kyto > Kobe > Back to Kyoto

29/06 - Kyoto > Hakone ( Assume the 2 days free Hakone pass will suffice? bad timing ropeway is closed due to earthquake.

30/06 - Hakone

01/07 - Hakone > Tokyo( Disneyland )
This part also no making sense. Do you know how big is Disneyland Japan? From Hakone > Tokyo City > Disney already wasted quarter day. Plus the Q .....you only utilize Disneyland around 30% only

02/07 - Tokyo - Is it worth going Disney sea?

03/07 - Shinjuku Will wonder around Tokyo
04/07 - Shinjuku
05/07 - Shinjuku
06/07 - Shinjuku (Flight is at 1050pm)
This part is no making any sense. You going Tokyo just for Shinjuku?

Yes, I'm sure heaps of similiar questions has been asked before the thread is so popular and long !
I'm grateful if anyone could entertain my questions. sweat.gif

Am cracking head on which type/pass of transportation to use to get around these places - JR 7 days pass?
Wasting Money. From your itinerary.  JR rail Pass very limited used at Kansai & Tokyo

Would like to experience shinkansen at least.

Also thinking of air bnb ( any suggestions much appreciated ) VS. hotels .

So far hotel seems to be same price or cheaper than air bnb ( air bnb provides wifis ).

We love food - so any cafes or restaurants recommendation are welcome!!
Do the Homework first or Refer to Page 1

If anyone can share share their similiar itinerary would be aweosome!

*where is the best place for night view of skyline?
Do the Homework first

Thanks all! notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

Basically no problem.
But I want you to study the Tokyo City Map first.
As a Expert experience people here look at it. It was a Joke
Your destination was West to East then back to west again. Wasting time.
I give u a example. Asakusa , Ginza , Tsukiji are nearby. Why don't you put all nearby as one section
WEst part as one section , North Part as one , South part as one

For train u didnt take tokyo pass?

it seems there are 2 pass we need to get, if we get the pass.
tokyo metro pass, and jr east pass.

furthermore we will not be travelling extensively using the train.
so i figured using suica/pasmo will be cheaper.

The rail lines either the JR or Private lines

I stayed with my host in akasaka so the subway was really convenient as there was like 3 subway lines in 1km radius from my host house while the nearest JR is like 1.4km away IIRC

The attractions that i wanted to visit have subway station that is close to them so thats why i emphasize more on subways than train lines when i was at tokyo. Not sure about your situation thou, Better look up into it if your place is more subway friendly or train lines friendly

AFAIK,you can only buy that subway pass at the airports counter and BIC camera selected shops, i got mine as a bundle with my NRT-Tokyo station bus ticket

For Tokyo, getting Suica/Pasmo is still the best for me as it allows flexibility in taking the trains. Getting a pass may cause us to tend to stick to that particular line, leading to time loss. So probably for first timers, I'd say just go for Suica/Pasmo. However, for passes like Yurikamome pass in odaiba which is monopolized by one company, then getting the pass may pay off depending on how many times you took the train.

This sounds straight forward but since it is google translated, need a confirmation.

If a parking signage state this:

7:00 to 19:00
40 minutes / 200 yen

7:00 to 19:00 maximum fee 800 yen

It means regardless of how long I parked during that period, I only need to pay 800 yen max?

It may be, but sometimes I lazy to to go all the way out for Yurikamome.

From Ikebukuro, taking Saikyo Line then continue as Rinkai saves me time, and then can straightly reach Shinonome to meet bro sacwoc too.

Not only Sapporo. Entire Hokkaido Island will become alive during Winter time. Winter are Hokkaido most expensive time. Golden Week also expensive.

It is a fact that you can never go to any popular festivals in Japan without ignoring the crowd.

If you intend to eat at popular restaurants, then obviously you won't have any seats. Most of the customers do prior arrangement (booking) with the restaurants before dining there.

From my experience going on the first day of 雪祭り early this year, the crowd is still ok (by Japan's standard), not as bad as one would exaggerate.
