is applying visa to Japan required?
I saw some said can just go without applying visa..

No need if your passport is with embedded chip ( AKA any passport made within the past 5-10 years)

They do take your finger prints once you reach their airport immigration

do i still need to have at least one phone with data sim or it is built in with the mobile WiFi?
*
If you want to make calls, then MiFi is not capable to do so. If you just want data, then MiFi is fine. smile.gif
MiFi also accepts SIM cards that can make calls but it just locks to data and SMS (using apps for some MiFis) but cannot make outgoing calls. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(ivzh @ May 7 2015, 12:41 AM)
finally booked almost all the accomodation for my stay in japan during autumn season in nov.. all by airbnb.  2night in tokyo, 4nights in kyoto and 3nights in osaka.
checking through agoda and etc, hotel price in kyoto so much expensive compare to normal day..some at least cost 2 times more.

need some advices here
1. i m now still looking for an onsen ryokan in kawaguchiko which is toddler friendly, any recommendation? will stay there for 2 night.

2. the shinjuku to kawaguhiko bus, do we need to pay anything to reserve the bus ticket? is it possible that i can take an earlier bus if i reach shinjuku earlier (from narita)?

3. end of november, is it advisable to reserve seat for shinkansen (tokyo to kyoto)?

many thanks
*
why not just stay longer at osaka ? you can just simply go to kyoto on morning and come back on evening. The travel time is roughly 30 mins only

Why not get in at Kansai Get out at Narita? save more time.

Day 1 when you reach Osaka already 2pm. Half day gone If you get in at Narita
Day 5 are Tokyo
Hakone put on Day 6

If you put Hakone at Day 5,,,from Osaka to Hakone,,another 1/4 day gone again.

Your planning are bad......I give 3 / 10

I think mine has embedded chip.
Does getting a visa means easier access to their public transportation system (foreign only rate) and also tax free zone (cant rmb saw from where).

i have consider this, however still prefer stay in both osaka and kyoto as easier to travel.. no need change too many train in same day..

accomodation in kyoto (D1 to D4) - accessible by kiyomizu-gojo station (nearest) and gojo station (600m)
osaka (D5-D7) - accesible by namba station and shinsaibashi station

so far i had only plan day time activity as it is november and i will have limited daylight hour. what time is the sunrise in japan during november? earlier compare to kl?

D1
-reach in morning from tokyo (shinkansen)
-tokofuji (keihan)
-uji (keihan)
D2 -kiyomizudera (may get 2 day bus pass, not too sure yet)
D3 - arashiyama
D4 - fushimi inari (optional) nara via kintetsu rail pass
D5 - to osaka via keihan railway - use osaka kaiyukan day pass - osaka city tour
D6 - JR west 1day pass - himeji - kobe - osaka
D7 - universal studio (day time) . may consider going to spa world if not too tired after that
D8 - going back kl

anyway travelling with my 2 years old kid will be a big challege to me.
D1 and D6, is it abit too packed?

I already book the flight. Fly to Kansai is expensive compare to fly to Tokyo. Should I go to Tokyo first then Hakone then follow by Osaka? Last day travel back to Tokyo again for the flight back to kl

I rather go Nara than Kobe
IMO Kyoto 1 day not enough. Other than aquarium and/or USJ I rather go Kyoto than Osaka.

I will be using Jr pass. So trip cost between kl and Osaka is not a concern for me.

Thanks both for replying.
I am staying for about 14 days.
And I am only travelling within Osaka, Kobe, maybe Nara and Kyoto too.
Which pass would suit me?
Travelling in a group of four.
THanks.

Rulez in Japan are extremely Strict. Such as hotel Room 2 people one room means 2 people one room.  Don't ever think rent a room but stay 3 - 4 people like we usually do in Malaysia. They have right halau another 2 people out from hotel or total black list you plus penalty super heavy fine as cheating
*
I have booked one double room and one single room but we have 4 ppl going.
So the extra person cant sleep in the single room aso?
