I have a Fluval Spec V (43.5 x 27 x 16cm)
good for small fishes and shrimps
Fluval Spec V

the small Fluval Edge 6G is good too, aquascaping is possible, but a little challenging due to its small opening.

Some LFS do sell the soil is per L , slightly more expensive but if you don't need that much to begin with its a good deal IMHO

add soil. a tank with no soil or ground stresses the fishes.
beneficial bacteria lives in soil too. ^^

Have anyone tried schooling the same fish species but from different breeders or shops?

E.g. 10 neon tetras from shop A and 10 neon tetras from shop B. Will the 20 neon tetras school together or will they separate into two schools of 10s?

well I dont have any personal experience with these large numbers, but so far I've purchased my fishes in small numbers at a time. they are schooling alright. ^^

Just wana let you guys know that the NEW Fluval Spec is here with UPGRADED LED is here.

Spec is one of my Fav aquarium, one of my 1st too.
- all in one package - easy for beginner for aquascaping, shrimp or fishes etc.
- have an oversized filter to keep the water quality stable, no problem in breeding CRS ( mine is doing very well )
- can hide, CO2 injector away from view in the post filter chamber.
- quiet pump

but the problem is the 1st generation LED is no way bright enough for medium to high light plants to flourish.

now with the new LED which much higher output
its truly one of the best all in one tanks around.

if any one is interested. Pm me.
the 1st 5 units of each model gets a special price.

a comparison of the old and new led output ! taken under same exposure.

easily modified rear filter chamber.

well for me, I just used the original foam block and just added some ceramic balls in a net and place it at the bottom. and a SS mesh at the top so that no baby shrimps will get into the filter.

I always hated Limpets, they are an eye sore, but for the past week or so my view of them changed.

I have a Do Aqua (ADA) waterfall, just unlike any other ADA tanks it comes with glass IN and OUT flow tubes, and I connected with clear rubber hose (ADA) to the canister filter.

every 2-3 months I have to clean the tubes and hose, with a brush, as green ugly algae will start to grow in them.

but oddly for the past few weeks, the OUT flow tube is clearing, to a almost clean glass. and its progressively going further to the clear rubber tube, on close inspection I can see limpets LOL munching away the nasty green slime.

they clean about 0.5 - 1cm every 2 days, soon the OUT flow pipe will be totally cleaned, but i dont think they can make it to the IN flow pipe via the canister filter, will be filtered out lol.

anyone of you have such experience ?

i think you need to compare the LED specs (its PAR rating), with you 110W PLL light's PAR.

which part issue ?
the solenoid or the regulator itself ?

I'm using Intense CO2 Regulator with Solenoid, the LFS guy recommended me this one. SFSG.
love its ability to finely tune BPS, and do not need tools to mount and unmount from tank.

Agreed. mount and unmounting the regulator in a proper way is important.
(dont breaks the rubber seal etc)

the 1st time i refill i screw up and busted a ring like u mentioned. the distributer changed an o ring FOC. but since then i fitted once SFSG. waiting for my next refill.

I think it really need good care when mounting and unmounting.

esp - not to over tighten -
