Hello guys

i'm thinking to buy MSI GTX 970 4GD5T OC but got few questions

is it good compared to other brand eg asus, msi, zotac etc?

what the diff with MSI GTX 970 Gaming version other than cooler?

did i entitle nvidia free game offer if i buy from shop?

Need some help here. TQ
*
1. Zotac is the cheapest, comes with 5 year warranty, perf wise, unless its the AMP! edition, it follow reference GTX970
2. MSI uses Twin Frozr cooler, comes with 0db feature. black and red theme look, comes pre-overclocked
3. ASUS uses Strixx DCU II cooler, comes with 0db feature, pre-overclocked
4. Giga uses Windforce G1 Gaming cooler, no 0db feature, pre-overclocked too Cooling perf of those above are exceptional if compared to reference cooler. But if youre looking for just pure perf, take the one with the highest factory overclock clock speed.

Yes, means that my problem is exaggerated due to the memory being severely limited to 3.5GB when I actually NEED all that 4gb.

How about wait until GTAV comes out first? No one knows how GTAV will perform on PC, even if Rockstar is promising that it will run fine. But what happened with GTA4 on PC was a big slap to those who bought it.

Not big jump, if you have 680 must at least aim for 980. That'll be 2 steps performance upgrade.

Thanks guys! Will wait then... hmm.gif

I actually think it's a fairly decent card. It has less phases than the Gaming version, but uses the same VRM controller. PCB is also different, Gaming uses SFC MOSFETS but the 4GD5T uses R22 (they could have changed this recently though as there's a new revision).

Nvidia pick your path promo has already ended on 20th Jan. So no more free game.

After so many years my GC suddenly died i was using a 1GB ram MSI R6850 CYCLONE OC edition. Any recommendation to replace this card? This card been good to me and for its price of 400+++ it was one of the best card ever.

Budget : 500 below or maximum of 700

Usage type : Photoshop, Illustrator, Counter strike Go, Battlefiled 4 and many more

I am current using a i5 2400k 4gb ram

I plan to upgrade today.

From my research to lowyat, i seeing people recommending the following hope its price is low and as good as my previous card. Please provide me your best recommendation within or a better one

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 960 AMP! Edition - 799
Leadtek GTX 960 2GB DDR5 - 700+++

cool like silly, so tempting to spend RM 1649 on it!

The looks alone already make it nicer than the rest. When you hold it, it's rock solid. I had so much fun overclocking that baby and I'm surprised to see I get 10 fps gain from the overclock without trying too hard.

Rarely I come across any card that even allows one to overclock much, let alone gain 5fps.

RM1649....

Better spend RM2000 straight for GTX 980, better future proofing as it have no VRAM problems and actually have higher memory bandwidth.

GTX 970 is overated if it is priced too near GTX 980. From RM1099 till RM1649. Better get the cheaper range GTX 970.

It depends. I upgraded from GTX 670 to GTX 980 and I noticed the performance jump. I think it is about double of what GTX 670 did. Partly also because my monitor display at 1440p thus I needed the improvement (GTX 670 did struggle on more graphic intensive games at 1440p).

Now I can do 60 fps at high settings at 1440p. flex.gif

The gtx 960 at that price point is the same as the gtx 760. The R9 280 at that price point to me is the sweet spot in that rm700 mark. If you can accept 2nd hand gc, there are a lot option like the R9 280X, GTX 770/760/680 and the hd 7870XT , all will out perform the 960.

Since when was there an i5 2400k? Do you mean 2500k?

Budget of RM700, I think it's better you get a second hand 770 and OC the heck out of it. Otherwise continue with AMD.
