QUOTE(cend @ Feb 15 2015, 12:45 PM)
Im not quite knowledgeable about how graphics card compare each other. And I don't know about xeon processor but I do know it starts getting affordable for desktops even though it was for servers.

I think I can get the GTX 960, I wouldn't really mind a lower graphics card. Then some people recommend me the GTX 750Ti which is claimed as the best efficiency although I'm not sure about playing BF4 on it. So what cheaper graphic card would you suggest, or just get the 970 because for it's price-performance? I think the i5-4460 is enough for me.

Is it possible to get it around 2.7k? I didn't know GTX 970 is that pricey, sorry  blush.gif
*
Yes. Xeon for mainstream is basically slightly lower clocked i7 without built-in GPU.

Xeon E3-1231 V3 - RM829
Asrock B85M-HDS motherboard - RM239
Kingston 8GB DDR3-1600 x1 - RM239
Zotac or Leadtek GTX960 4GB DDR5 Hurricane - RM759
WD Blue 1TB hard disk - RM184
Seasonic M12 II Evo 520W power supply - RM279
Bitfenix Neos case - RM179

RM2708 total

GTX980 alone is already overpriced. Leadtek GTX980 is the cheapest at RM1999. Unless you got money to throw, MSI, Gigabyte or Asus.

[Budget]6.5k

[Purpose] video editing, photo editing, rendering, gaming

[Monitor resolution] 4K

[Games & softwares that use frequently]Photoshop, illustrator, after effects
battlefield 4

Using NZXT H440 case
*
Budget too low for 4k setup

How about these?

Xeon E3-1231 V3 - RM829
Gigabyte Z97X-SLI motherboard - RM469
Kingston 8GB DDR3-1600 x1 - RM239
Leadtek GTX980 4GB DDR5 Hurricane - RM1999
Intel 530 240GB SSD - RM449
WD Blue 1TB hard disk - RM184
Coolermaster V 750W Semi-modular power supply - RM409
Sansung U28D590 28" monitor - RM1899

RM6477 total (Viewnet prices)

Single GTX980 still not enough to max out 4k gaming. Setup is SLI ready.

thanks tristanX.
i kinda like the spec you recommended.

btw, if the casing is changed to mini ATX to save some work space,
what would be the ideal configuration?
*
I didn't check whether if Viewnet got stock for Xigmatek Helios 231 at RM99. Switch to that if got stock. I still suggest going to the shop and see what they have. Recommended motherboard is micro-ATX. It will fit.

[Budget] RM 400 for GC, Monitor no idea

[Purpose] Picture editing, movies

[Hardwares that will be re-use] HP DX7500 microtower (E7500 Proc + 4 Gb DDR3 RAM 1333mhz + HDD)

My laptop is dying, since I got the microtower for free I don't mind to spend a little for the rest

Don't need high end card for the stuffs you do. Maybe these?

Sapphire HD5450 1GB DDR3 - RM99
Dell S2340L (glossy) or P2314H (matte) 23" monitor - RM549/699

The mobo quite expensive? Whats the difference with normal asrock b85m? This rig can run sketchup and autodesk also rite? So, downgrade the mobo for extra ram?
*
Because the motherboard has 4 RAM slots. You may need that in future 3D rendering and photoshop as well. Just use 8GB and add another 8 later.

Coolermaster Hyper 103 at RM89. You might wanna check Sri Computers before buying it because some coolers are cheaper there.

Hey Thanks buddy.

But was also wondering if I can stream on Twitch with this setup, and it if I can fit in an SSD into this setup?

Wouldn't mind bumping it up to RM3.5k if i have to.

CHeers!
*
Recommended setup can handle it easily. Streaming still depends Internet speed and consistency.

Just add Intel 530 120GB at RM259 for the SSD and Coolermaster Hyper 212X at RM149 for extra cooling.

Bit of a bind here. My boss, while updating the PS Audio Dectet via USB, managed to somehow trip the entire work place into darkness and also kill his precious Macbook Air. So planning to get a new work pc. Was looking into some hardware choices but I'd thought I'd just see what you guys can cook up.

[Budget] Around 2.5K. Lower if possible

[Purpose] Mostly work. Maybe games like Dota or Diablo (at least some graphical juice)

[Hardwares that will be re-use] HDD

[Monitor resolution] 1080p. Anything higher is wasted.

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Mircosoft tools. Adobe Suite. A LOT OF MUSIC PLAYBACK via jriver or audirvana.

[Personal preferences] Small as heck as possible. Not.much desktop space so I need a small footprint PC

Thanks!

Hmmm, I was thinking more of getting a AMD A10-7700K, slap in on a GIGABYTE GA-F2A58M-DS2 with the same other specs you suggested but no discreet GPU. I'll reuse the office monitor since this has DVI support. But does a A10 chip require good after market cooling for extended operations? It's an aircon room but not sure if I need a good air cooler that fits a small matx case.

AMD CPUs gets steamrolled by Intel for around the same price.
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1200?vs=288

This is not even using i5-4460 which is gen4. For the graphics side, R7 250X already make it look stupid.

No monitor can get you these.

QUOTE(Zer0 c00L @ Feb 23 2015, 12:23 PM)
good day guys,

I've a bit of an issue deciding on a budget ITX board + processor + GPU that I can use for a machine for basic usage (documents, streaming, movies etc, strictly no gaming).

I will have a CM Elite 130 case to fit this ITX board in. After some research the below are some of the options:

AMD:
Biostar A68N-5000 (A4-5000 APU onboard)
Semptron 5350 + Any AM1i board

Intel:
Asus / Gigabyte / Asrock / Msi 1800 or 1900 series (Quad core celeron on board)
Asus / Gigabyte / Asrock / Msi 81 - ITX mobo + Processor?

Understand the above options contain different solutions,
some are SOC some are not but which one would be the best performing for an under rm400 budget?

Power consumption is not an issue as this rig will be hooked to a 500W FSP PSU so I believe will be plenty enough.

Kinda leaning towards the Semptron 5350 + AM1i board at the moment but open to other suggestions as well if any.

Many thanks
*
What is your max budget?

Core i5-4460 - RM629
Asrock H97M-ITX/ac motherboard - RM369
Kingston 8GB DDR3-1600 x1 - RM239

I'd be willing to go further up to rm600 but of course less is better.
But if it means a significant jump in future proofing or performance, I will consider it.

Up to the rm600 range, and i3 + a H81-ITX board would be achievable right? at this price point will be it more advisable against the other options?

Thanks for your advise

Yup.

Core i3-4150 - RM374

Thanks for your reply, is it worth or necessary to jump to this solution?

This is cause the other on board solutions would set me back rm3xx tops, this will almost double it.
That said though, if it is that much better I won't really mind.

However, what do you think of the other options like SOC 1800, 1900 series, Biostar A4-5000 APU and the AM1i + Semptron?
*
Yup, worth it. It is significantly faster than the RM300+ ones.

Thanks TristanX for the suggestion. Unlikely I will be building an OC setup.
Is it sufficient to have 120GB SSD or would it make any difference if I upgrade it to a 250 GB?
Also for gaming, is 8GB RAM enough?

Sorry for all the newbie questions  tongue.gif

If you wanna install more stuffs into SSD, you gotta go at least 240GB. Intel 530 240GB is at RM449.

Yes, 8GB RAM is more than enough.
