GSKill RipjawsX XL 2x4GB DDR3 2133mhz

8GB has more resell value in the future. RAM speed only affects tiny bit of performance you will never notice on real world performance.

You could squeeze Xeon E3-1231 V3 and GTX960 if you cut the SSD and motherboard to B85M-HDS. You can always add SSD later anyway.

if really focus oni for dota,
can swap xeon with i5-4440 RM614, and SAPPHIRE R9 270 oc boost RM589

Yeah, can fit GTX970. However, getting Tier 1 power supply will take a lot of budget and it can affect the parts you can get.

Don't need i5. Just downgrade the PSU and you can get it. Seasonic M12 II Evo is full modular with the cable you need.

Is the BenQ RL2455HM a good value monitor for competitive games like csgo where reaction time is important?

I am currently using the old Samsung SyncMaster 2043SWX. Bought in late 2009.
Is there a massive difference between 1ms and 5ms response time (in the eyes of competitive player)?

Are there any more cheaper or value for money monitors other than the BenQ mentioned?
*
1ms is 1/1000 of a second. I've played CS from the days of old LCD and Samsung 2333SW. You won't see a difference. As long as your skills are sharpened, only very few can touch you.

QUOTE(demonicslayer @ Mar 4 2015, 09:22 PM)
Thanks for the recommendation. Currently, I am keeping extra money to increase the budget to near 3.5k.

Since one R9 290X is still not enough, I supposed I should just go back to normal gaming at high setting and not 4k. Feels like no point if we cant enjoy it to the fullest. Besides, I notice some AMD cards seemed to produce black patches in games like Dragon Nest which I often played. Many AMD users also mentioned about having lots of fire skills appearing at black patches.

Secondly, I would like to know if it is wise to buy now before GST or wait for newer models of graphic cards, 5th generation CPU and buy at later time (some might have price drop)? I would like some comment on it.

Thridly, if my budget is now 3.5k and I am not planning to play using 4K graphics, what is sifu's new recommendation?
*
This will just do the trick

Xeon E3-1231 V3 - RM869
Coolermaster Hyper 212X - RM149
Asrock B85M-HDS motherboard - RM239
Kingston 8GB DDR3-1600 x1 - RM239
Leadtek GTX970 4GB DDR5 Hurricane - RM1169 (from Techview)
WD Blue 1TB hard disk - RM184
Seasonic M12 II Evo 520W power supply - RM279
Corsair Spec 02/03 case - RM219

RM3347 total (Viewnet prices)

Most probably Dragon Nest is not optimized for AMD cards.

Just set a target and buy it when you want to use it. Technology keeps evolving.

A10 + R9 270? i5 + R9 270 would smoke it at cheaper price.

Hi Sifus, looking for a recommendation.

[Budget] Around RM 3.5k, if possible slightly lesser would be nice

[Purpose] Gaming and a bit of photo editing as well

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Mouse, Keyboard, Monitor

[Personal Preferences] Probably a GTX 970, something to build around it?

Just would like to know what is the difference between the Leadtek GTX 970 and the MSI one? I would like to get the MSI one as it was recommended by a friend, however the price difference is quite big. Would the difference between the two be very huge?

Also would it be better to go for the Seasonic 650W Gold / Bronze? Or rather the 620W one will do?

Thanks for the help!
*
How about these?

Xeon E3-1231 V3 (Core i7 in disguise) - RM869
Asrock B85M-HDS motherboard - RM249
Kingston 8GB DDR3-1600 x1 - RM239
Leadtek GTX970 4GB DDR5 Hurricane - RM1169 (from Techview)
WD Blue 1TB hard disk - RM184
Seasonic M12 II Evo 520W power supply - RM279
Corsair Spec 02/03 case - RM219

RM3208 total (Viewnet prices)

Optional:
Liteon 900S 128GB SSD - RM249

The MSI card has better overclockability. However, the performance difference is only a few percent on real world. As for the 80Plus rating, the few percent is negligible for this power level.

A10-7850K vs i5-4690:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1200?vs=1261

i5 steamrolling A10. Ignore IGP and processor graphics part. Hybrid crossfire does not work with DDR5 graphic cards. i5-4460 is about 9% slower than i5-4690.

You got the wrong picture. Videos are mostly on CPU unless you are using DXVA acceleration. Pentium G3220 or better can easily play it.

So not sure what's the best way around this, also it uses a Bestech 300W power supply. http://www.amazon.com/Bestec-ATX0300D5WB-R...y/dp/B0094342T4 this one to be exact.

What is your budget for the graphic card anyway? You might be able to get better.

By the way, there is a lot of second hand Core 2 Duo E8400-8500 on sale at Garage Sales that is below RM100.

My budget for an entire PC was RM700 but with this old PC I kinda dont have to get mobo, ram, proc, main hdd, dvd-drive. My sister just wants it for watching movies though so don't really need to go mid end. Lookin at some second hand cards atm.
*
Just get Core 2 Duo and DVI to HDMI adapter or a cheap graphic card with HDMI. You are done. A better PSU increases your graphic card choices.

Make sure you check the power supply requirements though.

Just get any card around RM100 to 200.

There is also stock clearance for Powercolor HD6950 1GB. That one will need 500W or better.
