What do you think of:
CPU: Intel Core I7 4790K
MOBO: Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5
*
That will significantly increase the cost or downgrade your graphic card. It is overclock setup.

The performance will also relatively be upgraded right?

Or probably I could look at a combination without the over locking feature?

Hi, sorry for the trouble.
Could you recommend a greater power PSU(at least 500 watt) for future use?
In case we were to upgrade the GPU in the coming 1 year or so...
Normally how long can PSU last?

Edit: budget below 300
Edit 2:  BTW, for the SSD, Intel or plextor is better? The price seems like almost the same...

Thx.
*
Go for Seasonic S12 II 620W at RM299 or M12 II Evo 520W (modular) at RM279. These PSUs can last very long.

Plextor is faster but 3 years warranty. Intel has higher grade hardware and it is 5 years warranty.

Source?  Please do not use the MLC vs TLC debacle since they are pretty much irrelevant to the average user unless the user intends to do lots of writes on the drive (for example heavy use of virtualization and large video/photo editing)... icon_idea.gif
*
Who says it is irrelevant? What if the user is heavy on the disk usage? Do not assume the user is just average.

http://techreport.com/review/25889/the-ssd...nt-500tb-update

Even the 840 EVO (which uses TLC NAND) can withstand 500TB worth of writes. icon_idea.gif

FYI, 500TB of writes translate to writing 140GB of data continuously over 10 years. icon_idea.gif
*
What is 140GB per year if the user torrents everyday?

Oh, I forgot to mention that 500TB of writes actually mean writing 140GB worth of data everyday, over the 10 year lifespan.  I don't think he will reach that much of usage...  Even so, 10 years of lifespan is incredibly long for a SSD.  icon_idea.gif
*
The quality of NAND also matters. I've seen users complaining about drive failing due to heavy use.

I would like to seek advice on building a rig with a budget of about RM3000. I intend to use it for some browsing, gaming and paperwork.

Besides that, what is your take on the Nvidia GTX970 issue? Will it cause the price to go down a bit? Can Nvidia really fix the problem? I wanted to try on some 4K graphic (for fun) but I don't exactly like the R290 energy consumption and heat production tho.
*
You will have to go with R9 290X due to full 4GB and better memory bandwidth for 4k. Please also take note single R9 290X is still not enough to max out 4k. Gaming on 4k doesn't come cheap.

And your budget is an issue. How about these?

Core i5-4460 - RM629
Asrock B85M-HDS motherboard - RM239
Kingston 8GB DDR3-1600 x1 - RM239
MSI R9 290X 4GB DDR5 Lightning - RM1299
WD Blue 1TB hard disk - RM184
Seasonic M12 II Evo 620W power supply - RM359
Corsair Spec 02/03 case - RM219

hi, wanna help my friend ask...

what's the diff between small sized pc and big sized 1?

better to get small 1 or big 1...if only 1 graphic card?
*
Big is better due to space inside. The more space you have, heat accumulates slower. The casing design, environment, fans and cable management also affects the cooling.

Hi, a newbie here

Some questions:
1. How long u expect the GTX960 2GB can 'tahan'? Can it play the future 3 years high graphic games?
2. for the suggestions above, are they built-in with wifi & bluetooth?

Sorry for the noob questions
*
If you keep on playing newer games, nope.

Nope, it doesn't come with either. They are dirt cheap anyway.

How about GTX980? Can it tahan for at least 2-3 years?
*
GTX980 should be able to last. They are not worth it price/performance wise though. If you are playing on 1080p, GTX970 should be able to. R9 290X for 1440p and higher.

SLI ready cause single GTX980 is not enough to max out 4k.

Hi guys, appreciate suggestion for an RM2500-3000 (just for CPU) rig mainly for gaming and will not be obsolete in 2-3 years. I have a HP2311GT monitor. Not sure if the monitor will somewhat "suppress" the experience (display wise) I should get from the system. If yes, please suggest a monitor as well.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you Minecrafter for your help. Yes, I have checked and it has free international shipping. Warranty shouldn't be an issue since it's from Gigabyte itself.

I took some time to look around and came up with this. Seeking advice on this build's efficiency(cpu+mobo) Prices from Viewnet.

CORE I5 4590 1150 3.30 6MB - 669
B85-PRO GAMER INTEL 1150 - 409
HX316C10FB FURY 1600 - 249
TRANSCEND 128GB SSD 370 SERIES - 229
DESKTOP WD 1TB SATA - 179
CORSAIR 400R / 760T (Blk) - 339 (price from cycom)
SEASONIC 550W G-SERIES MODULAR - 359
COOLER MASTER HYPER 212X - 149

Total - 2582 (and i haven't included GPU... need to raise budget, lol)

Since the Gigabyte GTX 960 G1 Gaming is cheaper in Amazon after USD to MYR conversion I thought I might just buy from Amazon instead. The only question I have is how the import fee/duty would be charged for it. Has anyone here ever ordered any computer parts from Amazon or eBay?
*
That motherboard is overpriced. B85 chipset motherboard at RM409. doh.gif

You can get better spec with refinement

Xeon E3-1231 V3 - RM829
Coolermaster Hyper 212X - RM149
Asrock H97 Pro4 motherboard - RM329
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR3-1600 x1 - RM249
Transcend 370 128GB SSD - RM229
WD Blue 1TB hard disk - RM184
Seasonic G-550 power supply - RM359
Corsair Spec 02/03 case - RM219

RM2547 total (Viewnet prices)

3 MONITOR CONUNDRUM:
I currently run a eyefinity setup- for whatever reason  icon_idea.gif . Need to know what is good upgrade from my current rig

Current:
i5-44XX  /  Asrock B85 ITX board
gskill aegis 2x4GB RAM
sepphire dual-x 280x
samsung 256gb ssd  /  seagate 2TB hdd
Seasonic something 620W
CM elite 130

This baby gets hot really fast during gaming and even cause my speaker to get buzzing/eering sound at long game play. I think its because of the SFF build.
Should i sell everything and buy a new one  sweat.gif , or just salvage some parts and upgrade and sell off the rest  sweat.gif .
What do you guys think??
*
Get better SFF casing. Since it is ITX board, you can't add hardware accelerated sound card.

Hi, how to differentiate whether the mobo is overclock friendly or not? btw can suggest mobo that overclock friendly that bang for the buck with price range rm300 - rm 500..
*
Only Z97 motherboards are overclock friendly. You will have to go with more expensive Z97 that comes with at least 8-phase VRM if you want even more overclock.
