I thought of buying the real thing 4 strings ukulele, then i stumbled across Yamaha Guitalele (6 strings, size around baritone size ukulele, sound as ukulele, tuning same as ukulele with the extra 5th string D and 6th string A). It's actually a hybrid of guitar and ukulele. I bought this instead of the 4 stringed ukulele.

yamaha calling it a guitalele is abit misleading la.
i had one of those small size guitars also, tuned a 5th above standard tuning like ukulele - A D G C E A - this one is not by choice since tuned anything lower and the guitar wont stay in tune properly.
the only difference is in ukulele tuning usually the 3rd string C is one octave lower than on the guitar...so it sounds difference and of cos different also with nylon strings...

I thought I've joined the discussion on this thread. Sorry for being a late comer blush.gif

Another 'social' ukulele player here. Everdying, thank you very much for the info on ukulelemovement. Now I know where I can get a replacement for my Aquila strings thumbup.gif

la bella, do some net search on Aquila strings. I'm sure you'll find that they are one of the best when it comes to uke/guitalele strings. I'm using this one BTW:
