blacktrix:
No, the chord is sightly differents.
But if you know how guitars chord work, it the same.
Capo your guitar 5 fret, you shall figure it out yourself.
I got Mandolin at home too, but i don't like it.
My dad use to play it.

Everdying:
That what people say when they saw ukulele (small version of GUITARS)
But it nothing close to the guitars.
Yes, you can tune GCEA on the guitars strings. (Bottom 4 strings)
But it sound differents. Ukelele have a sighty thicker third strings.
(To add some bass sound to it)

led_zep_freak:
Regular that ok ok want selling in Malaysia...Cost only RM50++
or abit better want...RM120++ (Mahalo form Woh Fatt is the best bargain
for beginner) Alot of website give thumb up for this cheap uke for beginner.
Mahalo is made in china.

Pix:
I started this post coz i wanna know anyone of you have
ukulele that buying from malaysia shop.
Buy online, but the shipping charges is too damn expensive.
I think it not worth buying online...Unless, you are CRAZY...CRAZY about it.
I have google hell alot for this last 5 years. I still think it abit overprice...
If you have money to buy a good ukulele...Get a Koa solid wood uke that
made from Hawaii or Mahagony solid wood.
Or the famous "Martin"....but hard to find and can sell as high as RM2000+++
There are hell alot of brand out there, some made fine Uke and some bad.

You can check out one of many online Uke seller here:

Well.... looks like it's a Mahalo Ukulele for me then......
Great thread!!!!!

You can give a try on Malaysian made version of Ukulele. "SAPE" tongue.gif

If you wanna get the Mahalo Uke get the guitar shape types.
Don't buy the flying-v. Waste money only, unless you wanna collect lah.
If the Uke is not playable, you will feel frustrated and loss interest to carry on playing.
I hope you will enjoy it.

Anyway, if you know guitars. I think within a couple of hour
you shall be able to start struming along a simple song.
Ukulele are mean for simple learn and fun.
Alot people who know nothing about music note or chord
could pick up and play a few tune they like in a matter of days.
So have fun...struming the Ukulele.

Hope that help biggrin.gif

Beside George Harrison.
The most famous Uke player now is Jake Jake Shimabukuro. rclxms.gif
People called him Jimi Hendrix of Uke.
You can check out few of his video on YouTube or the link below.
See how his play "While my guitar gently weep"....mesmerizing. shocking.gif
Other than Jake, you can try James Hill and my personal favorite
"Craig Robertson". Craig got a website where he post alot of
his own mp3 recording. I love his "UKULELE" the dominos. (I wanna steal his Uke)

Pearl Jam -Binaural & Riot Act album,
Eddie Vedder have a Uke Song on each of it.
"Soon Forget" from Binaural is nice.
That the song which made me pick up an Ukulele and learn.
BTW...I'm a huge Pearl Jam fans.

There are alot more good Uke site out there.
If you wanna know more, i post it for you. smile.gif

For strings...i own 3types of strings... later i post up the pic.

Jus change when i cut off...or else u wanna try new strings (keep the old ok) coz alot people never change the uke strings...
Their said, it sound better when the age's.

I never change my Mahalo strings for the last 6 years.
And my Farida has been the same for 2 years.

yea that olympia strings is the one woh fatt has, RM8 a set.

that farida looks nice, how much did it cost?
the farida is nato rite?
*
yup...bought from woh fatt. (i got 2 set of it) bought it jus because it was black color strings.
The pyramid band also fr woh fatt. Rm15 if i'm not mistaken.
Those few packs of strings have been laying in my closet for 4years now.

I bought farida fr guitarstore (RM700 included the case) they don 1 give me the case
at 1st...coz they say they give me the price very cheap already...
....at tat time only 1 available...and it never gonna sold until i come asking.
So they have no choice tongue.gif ... but i still think they cheat me...hahaha

If u convert the Yen 29,800 = RM 900.... smile.gif
