all u need is to know how basic scales are formed...Classical music books teach these very early on...
Then how the scales relate to the circle of fifths which is what more rock guys use...
so i guess go google similar websites...or do like idiots do and go kinokuniya or borders and sit ur ass down in the middle of nowhere blocking everyone's path with ur iphone beside u wearing ur fake dockers but are even cheaper for not being able to afford a rm50 theory book... tongue.gif

Already googled and found interesting site with free information brows.gif
Thought you might recommend some favorited site being long in the music. Thats okay.
I used to buys books lots of them. But ever since got internet, have almost completely stop buying books. RM50 is not much, but it would be silly to spend it when information are available for free and green too thumbup.gif just pay internet fee only.

Have never own docker or anything similar, frown at those blocking path, Iphone?... nah, over price, low spec and confine.., using Android instead. I do shop for affordable stuffs and rarely branded stuffs. Definitely never fake branded stuffs, that is really silly wacko.gif

I appreciate all information you have share so far, thanks alot smile.gif

i dunno any websites cos i never learnt anything from the internet.
its all from books, dvds...classical books, dvds from paul gilbert, john petrucci etc.
tho of cos all this was a long time ago tongue.gif

btw, internet is not green?
its like 'green' cars...or 'low fat' milk, or that infant milk with 'less sugar'.
or like those stupid food products that claim 'less than 100 calories', when all they did was shrunk it only...
fact remains is, they have huge co2 emissions, there is still a huge % of fat, there is sugar...
you still need to make rubber, you still need to make pvc covers for cables, you need to consume 500w for your PC, likewise the mega amts of power the ISPs consume...u seriously dont think they run on wind or solar power right?
its all just govt conspiracies to make u believe the world is alright... tongue.gif

Hi,

Your opinion about this Ukulele in the image. solid wood, clean finishing, brand Mahalo, model U320C/G, price RM180. Can buy?

I saw another Mahalo priced RM60, didn't take picture, but it looks like the one in Mudah.com, not solid wood, I think is bit smaller too, but finishing is edgy, make me wonder wonder if precision is also compromised. Someone mentioned about pirated Ukulele, wonder if this is the one?

I may go for the RM180, but like some comments first.

180 can even go baritone size i think if you get it from a cheaper shop lol.

btw, would it be a good idea to change the strings to the strings classical guitars/acoustic guitars use? would the sound be nice?

just got 2 mahalos last week - a concert (12 frets similar to one posted by 1klgan above) and a tenor size (18 frets) - never played one before but it is fun. concert size a little cramp to play though i dun hav big fingers - tenor size more natural - but both are fun.
dun think the mahalos u320C/T are solid wood - but built quite decent and i'd say the wood grain is beautiful and nice to touch. holds in tune ok when playing but leave it next day it goes out of tune again - so need to have a tuner handy. or maybe need to tighten the tuner.
supposedly comes with nylgut (aquila?) strings

then again these are my first ukulele - only played guitars

[btw get em cheaper from seller in lelong]

Yes, it's a concert size ukelele. You are right, RM180 is high. I got mine last week for RM135 for a concert size.

It looks like solid wood so I wonder why do you suspect these are not. How to check?

Anyway I find it difficult to hold a ukulele still while changing chord (haven't got use to it yet) , so I gave it a strap button. Much better now.

i noticed that when they use solid mahagony wood they will put as "solid mahagony", but laminated ones they will advertised as "mahagony" only. check out other brands and their product line - lanikai, kala, etc. even the mahalos website. Solid wood uke listed normally~ RM1K and above. i'd not worry too much about the wood though id like to try one of those solid wood uke - intonation and how well it stays in tune more important to me i guess

btw mahalo tenor add ~RM20

Hi, can anybody tell me how much does a ukulele costs? and what brands are considered good or okay for ukes? I would really want to get one. For my current budget.. is rm 100 enough to buy a normal uke? and do they provide bags/container for ukes like a guitar? Thanks icon_rolleyes.gif
