Already have enough challenges with a normal 6 string guitar to go into a weird 4 string one. But than again that ukulele looks too cute and affordable too

QUOTE(Everdying @ Jun 19 2011, 09:44 PM) chords are similar to guitar la. Wah... how is it similar? For example say G chordif ur already familiar with the standard circle of fifths and got good chord knowledge...its pretty easy to adapt. 6 strings familiar guitar |--3---| 1st String |--0---| 2nd String |--0---| 3rd String |--0---| 4th String |--2---| 5th String |--3---| 6th String 4 strings ukulele, how? there is no 5th or 6th string to hold a G chord. |--3---| 1st String |--0---| 2nd String |--0---| 3rd String |--0---| 4th String I guess it is totally different fingers positions, right? |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Jun 19 2011, 11:47 PM) if u even know how to tune a ukulele, and if u know guitar, u can already tell the tuning is the same notes as whats on the 5th fret on the guitar same string. Ah!... learn something new again.....obviously ignoring the non-existent 5th and 6th strings on ukulele... so basically whatever ukulele chord u want, just transpose a 5th up and play the guitar chord of the note u get. so if u need a G chord on ukulele...5th is the D...so play the D shape...of cos there are other D shapes u can play all over the neck. this is all very basic music theory. so on ukulele, G = 0232 or eg C up a 5th = G = 0003, and D up a 5th = A = 2220. Guys please bear with me I guess, I'll stick with the 6 string until understand more about music theory, before exploring ukulele |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Jun 20 2011, 09:24 AM) all u need is to know how basic scales are formed...Classical music books teach these very early on... Already googled and found interesting site with free information Then how the scales relate to the circle of fifths which is what more rock guys use... so i guess go google similar websites...or do like idiots do and go kinokuniya or borders and sit ur ass down in the middle of nowhere blocking everyone's path with ur iphone beside u wearing ur fake dockers but are even cheaper for not being able to afford a rm50 theory book... Thought you might recommend some favorited site being long in the music. Thats okay. I used to buys books lots of them. But ever since got internet, have almost completely stop buying books. RM50 is not much, but it would be silly to spend it when information are available for free and green too Have never own docker or anything similar, frown at those blocking path, Iphone?... nah, over price, low spec and confine.., using Android instead. I do shop for affordable stuffs and rarely branded stuffs. Definitely never fake branded stuffs, that is really silly I appreciate all information you have share so far, thanks alot |

Hi,
Your opinion about this Ukulele in the image. solid wood, clean finishing, brand Mahalo, model U320C/G, price RM180. Can buy? I saw another Mahalo priced RM60, didn't take picture, but it looks like the one in Mudah.com, not solid wood, I think is bit smaller too, but finishing is edgy, make me wonder wonder if precision is also compromised. Someone mentioned about pirated Ukulele, wonder if this is the one? I may go for the RM180, but like some comments first. |

QUOTE(kimi @ Jul 18 2011, 09:07 AM) dun think the mahalos u320C/T are solid wood - but built quite decent and i'd say the wood grain is beautiful and nice to touch. It looks like solid wood so I wonder why do you suspect these are not. How to check?Anyway I find it difficult to hold a ukulele still while changing chord (haven't got use to it yet) , so I gave it a strap button. Much better now. |

The last time I check the price for Mahalo brand Ukulele was as follows.
Soprano - RM60 - 65 Concert - RM135 Tenor -RM155 Baritone - RM180 If you want to compare the sound of these different sizes of ukulele, this guy can help Charles 016376111 Hope that put an end to price inquiry for affordable range Ukuleles. If cash is not an issue than you can get an Ukulele concert size for RM5000 from Ukulele Malaya at Batu Caves If you are have no intention to turn professional ukulele player, than the above brand from concert size and above will satisfy most of your Ukulele needs. "ukulele needs" ??? Anyway hope this is helpful for future ukulele buyers. Added on August 5, 2011, 5:13 pmJust wondering..... Anyone here from Klang, Selangor, Malaysia, Earth, Milky Ways owns or play Ukulele? This post has been edited by 1klgan: Aug 5 2011, 05:13 PM |
