QUOTE(nachtsider @ Oct 23 2017, 03:18 PM) The deities you have named are VERY even tempered and kind, although they should still be treated with respect despite their statues being unconsecrated. Approach your local temple or sintua and ask them if they provide 'sending off' services for discarded statues. The correct method of disposal is to burn them, but there are certain protocols involved and this is not something a lay worshipper can do on their own. Thanks for the information ... will try to ask around which temple offer this service in penang.

QUOTE(audreyreiko @ Oct 24 2017, 10:51 AM) Came across a facebook post today with video, showing a sintua ceremony in KL for jiu huang yeh gone very wrong. Apparently they were "steaming" the sifu in a big metal tong with fire underneath? (Can't tell based just on video and a video does not explain what is going on) - according to the caption the sifu has passed away due to the accident. Wonder if you know about this case @nacht Edit: Read up more of the comments in the thread, it seems the sifu had a heart attack during the middle of the ceremony, and when they carry him out of the steamer, a while later he passed away on the spot. I saw the footage earlier today. It was only a matter of time before one of these idiots killed himself performing such foolish stunts, really.

QUOTE(audreyreiko @ Oct 25 2017, 11:19 AM) I guess they do that to garner more devotees and attention? This guy wasn't affiliated with the temple where the incident occurred. He wasn't even a medium, for that matter. He was merely a performance artist who practiced Mao Shan sorcery. What he was doing has no religious basis, at least not in Chinese folk religion.

That is not how the news articles portrayed unfortunately, and it is giving sintua religion a bad light. RIP to the guy but there are a lot of ridicules from all cultural communities on this incident.

QUOTE(veron208 @ Oct 23 2017, 12:18 PM) I have a Guan Yin and Fuk Lou Sau at my home which are not consecrated before. I am moving to a new house ... any advise on how to dispose them without angering them ? Usually master who can perform consecration they can also help you to send the god as well. Try go to those shop selling incense or god statue and ask them for the master contact. Usually they will have the master for their customers who bought the statue from them.

Most of these 'masters' are not qualified to consecrate anything.
