My wife just got her braces done at Bangsar Dental Clinic. Total cost is rm4000. Now she's whining her teeth hurt so bad... She can't eat, she can't do this, she can't do that.. sad.gif . I can understand her misery as I used to wear braces. I got mine done at Adventist Penang, a few years ago.. Very recommended!

Wow what type of braces Dr. Ang puts on you and how long he predicted you have to wear them. The teeth picture look pretty complicated.

How much adventist charge for that? i heard they do all sort of cosmetic surgeries too (i.e belly tuck, fat removal, nose job, hair transplant etc)

I also dont know what type of braces that smilebay put on me until one day the wire came off from the last bracket after i accidentally bite a hard biscuit onto the penang bridge cable (you know the gap of extracted premolar)

Since i know smilebay closed at 5pm and it was 7pm that time it will be kinda hazard to just leave to wire protruding like that might poke my cheek flesh like thaipusam.

By looking at the the other end of the bracket to see how the wire was inserted as a reference, I took the needlenose plier and held the wire just put it back, then only I realized that the whole length wire is not fixed but movable inbetween the bracket.

No wonder the Dr charges me RM6500 and i dont have to visit him so often like every month but two months once instead in the period of 2 years and half.

Yes, Dr Ang. I believe he's the only orthodontist at Adventist. He's done a great job on my teeth. I had severe crowding case. Had to wear braces for 2 years. Now I wear my retainer every night while sleeping. Just hang in there bro. U are in good hands icon_rolleyes.gif

If just rm3800 then it's quite cheap. or izzit that's the payment you made so far?

BTW thats not my teeth, i just want to show that type of braces the doctor did for me. i paid RM2500 initially. and RM200 per visit every two months.

I think mine is damon system. No tighten or rubber band needed. I'm pretty sceptical with the system to be honest. The wire is just running loose in between bracket. It's said that the wire will gently allow the teeth to move by themself to space out from the overlapped and space in to close the gap. Due to that the duration of getting them all aligned is shorter compare to the conventional braces. Hows that sound?

For a month now i've yet to see any movement except the wire moved out from the bracket few times already. LOL

Yeah total cost only rm3800.

Btw i think damon system is more expensive and it can produce faster result?

not pay all lump sum.

only initial u pay 30 to 40% from overall cost, then monthly RM100 or two months once at RM200 per visit

Total cost only RM3.8k? how about extract and x-ray?

I went to Dental Penang, Dr Lim and he quoted me 3.5k including extraction for two teeth at the bottom part. Oh ya, bottom teeth only. He told me upper row not needed but i think they're not perfect enough.

Still thinking if i should get them done at Penang Dental.

Hi everyone,

Seriously considering putting on braces soon and have visited Dr. Patricia at Bangsar recently. Was quoted RM 8500 (all in) - RM 3500 upfront and subsequently RM 250 each visit. Is this an appropriate price? Would also like feedback from anyone who has their braces done with her as to how was the experience.

Any other recommendation to do braces in Bangsar area or nearby also appreciated. Thank you.

And to bro tarapapa, the RM 4000 charged for your wife braces was that all in or upfront cost only? Care to elaborate? Thx!

All in. That includes retainer and any other treatment she might need. Keep in mind that the cost of treatment can vary depending on the complexity of the case, and types of braces too. The braces price quoted by your dentist could be for Damon system/ ceramic. Rm8000++ is way too high for regular braces. I suggest that you google and find some info about types of braces before you decide to wear them.

I think these doctor just charge suka suka one, like if they have good credential, graduated from prestige university or using expensive equipment, or located in expensive area (i.e bangsar) or type of braces or even your age and status etc. These doctors are also businessmen.

Like Siti Nurhaliza is wearing the RM16K lingual/ incognito braces and you cant see it because it's behind her teeth

Anyone got experience using 'buttons' on the inner part of several teeth (facing tongue) and use elastics to expand lower jaw?

i am currently on this thing because the doc said that my left side of teeth lands correctly but the right ones are quite inside. I find this to be weird coz if it pulls several teeth to make the lower jaw bigger, I am going to have a lot of gaps in between my lower teeth right (I don't have teeth crowding issue).

Just a few months ago the dentist was planted a ‘nail’ on the inner side of bottom last tooth, in the hope
of using elastic rubber to exert additional stress to pull it out from slanted in condition. It is quite troublesome as you need to
take out the rubber before start eating everytime. But it works and now my teeth are aligned nicely!
