Ehem... "... a curse *IF* you shoot people... ... a royal pain when you *don't want* them to blur out..."

I meant that when you *intend* to get people in the scene all sharp lar...
but it's still not a curse what, that one is your setting wrong.

smile.gif i would liken "curse" to something like the lens is so sharp, it's making you do more work when it comes to post-processing because it's too detailed.

ahpingko here's a picture of the A7S with LA-EA1 and a Sony 135mm F2.8/T4.5 Smooth Transition Focus. I took this a while back, and it is quite similiar to the Samyang 35mm F1.4 UMC in size.

And here's one with the Tamron 200-400mm F5.6. This lens has its focus gear stripped so it is manual focus. That's why I am not using the LA-EA4 but the full-frame modified (rear baffle removed) LA-EA1.

btw, can i still use my samyang 8mm on my a7? without any vignet? it seemed like even if shaved the hood, there will be round vignet also..

The first is with Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8
Second and third is with Sigma 30mm f/2.8 EX DN

Aperture is f11 for the first, and f2.8 for those that follows.
All taken with a6000.

Must say it's really nicely taken. Btw, you happen to know when does the paddy in green? I forgot when is the harvest month. doh.gif doh.gif

totally agree.. I often face this problem to shoot a portrait with a vintage zeiss T 50mm sonnar and keep the hello dreamy effect but lose the overall sharpness of a modern Planar.. when you have both the lens it become double curse each time you look a the photo.. painful to decide each time ..

you are shaving off the wrong end.. try the rear side.. not the front side.. see what you can remove any thing to get a bigger opening at the back.. that is what they did to the SEL16

I did that to my SEL16F28. However, looking at the Samyang front-shave videos, it looks like from the back, there isn't anything you can do because it comes out through a tiny tube at the back. My Peleng 8mm also looks like that - tiny rear optics. (I don't have the Samyang 8mm.)

Well you can either:
1) Use APS-C mode and leave it unshaved
2) Shave it and use on the A7. In any RAW processor program, look under the Distortion sliders for a Defish/Fisheye option. You can then defish until the black part goes away. It will probably be wider than on APS-C!

Sorry bro, I'm not. Just a marketing person. I have no idea about the stickers thing. I'm working under a company that have 3 Sony outlets only. Technically, you need to ask someone that is actually working WITH Sony. tongue.gif

Does anybody keep their boxes for cameras/lenses/accessories?

I'm wondering because I do keep, but I am thinking of recycling them for those out of warranty since I don't intend to sell them. (I'll take out the important bits in the boxes.)
