http://deskthority.net/wiki/Topre_switch
In essence, the Topre switch feels first like a refined rubber dome and second in some ways reminiscent of some mechanical-contact switches such as the Cherry MX Red and Alps SKCM Cream Damped.
The switch action is very smooth, with a tactile bump that you can feel near the top of the stroke. After the bump, the resistance is almost flat, making it difficult to avoid bottoming out. You can not feel the mid-stroke actuation point. It bottoms out distinctly with a "thock" sound.
Some Topre keys are very light, which can lead to unintended key activations; this happens especially on keyboards that have differently weighted switches for different fingers.

In short, it's like Linear(like MX Red which is linear too) with slight Tactile near end of each finishing press.

i've tried topre and cherry's linear before. i wouldn't say that topre and cherry red are similar sweat.gif
i really don't know why they compare it with cherry red, perhaps their way of comparing is different.

the closest cherry mx switch i can compare to a topre is cherry mx clear, which is similar to mx brown but with a more pronounce tactile bump.
but for mx clear, you'll feel the bump like midway of pressing it, and the key actuates at that point.
for topre, the bump is right at the start, and after the bump, u will bottom out and then it actuates.

One thing you guys should take notice over here is what you guys always said FEELING.
Feeling is vary among everyone.
But as long as it's logical, it's considered OK.
It's OK to tell Cherry MX Brown is Cherry MX Blue minus the clicky. In technical term, it might not be really accurate to put up this statement. But, in real-life testing, it's more or less that way... Tactile.
Unless, you tell like Cherry MX Blue is the same feel as Cherry MX Red, then, it's WRONG. Because one is full linear and another is obvious tactile. It's like driving a LORRY vs Luxury Car.

I think I should come out and say something about this as a user that tried all the Topre variants (30g, 45g, 55g) and most reputable Topre keyboards.
Topre is TACTILE! and heavy tactile

It's bullshit if someone tells you it's near to Brown or Red or refined Red, refined Brown, and refined what so ever MX Cherry.
It's actually similar to MX Clear of which has clear actuation bump.

Actually, when you said it's heavy tactile, I quite like it and pretty glad when you said it's a HEAVY TACTILE switch. Because I like tactile. LOL.
Novatouch, given if I have money, I'll buy. tongue.gif

Even I only try typing on it few times, my FEELING told me that it feels like rubberdome and rubberdome never feels like linear switches lol
Btw I read a lot of review saying that the irock synthetic mechanical switches feel like mx red too. This is actually misleading. There is only one exception:
Mx brown feels like mx red = forgivable

Because I feel like that too haha

Topre switch is kinda..tired, if you are not use to it.
Topre has to travel 4mm until actuation, while MX Switch average at 2mm.
Esp if you use Mx clear, the bump and actuation at 2mm, as long as you feel the bump you can release straight away, no need to bottom like topre.

Personal preference I would say.
I already used to linear switch with bottoming every keys often.
Of course all of my kbd already modded with much softer sprig.
Mx red original spring considered slightly heavy to me already.

I agree on this, long term usage of Topre switch my finger feel sore =\

QUOTE(zennasyndroxx @ Feb 16 2015, 01:33 AM)
hmm, topre. All I can say is not everyone likes topre switches. Some people might like brown, or clears but might dislike topre. Don't know why.

Speaking from real life experience where they gila all tactile feeling but don't really like topre.

I rike Clear and Black.

not all keyboard got standard layout. some company want to do have slightly different layout and some country dont use QWERTY as their standards as well
just google razer black widow, corsair K70,k90,k65 than compare to standard keyboard like filco , ducky , and others
look at the control, window ,alt and FN keys

Layout that we categorized as standard layout for ANSI looks like this...
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

What make a standard layout standard is the bottom row of modifiers (Row 1):
Ctrl(1.25unit) Win(1.25unit) Alt(1.25unit) Spacebar(6.25unit) Alt(1.25unit) Win(1.25unit) FN(1.25unit) Ctrl(1.25unit) [Total 15units]

Other keyboards that do not have the same unit measurement like the standard is called non-standard layout.
Example:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Most of the after replacement keycaps are in standard layout, like doubleshot abs, dye-sub pbt etc, in different type of profile (cherry, oem, dsa, sa, etc).
Non-standard layout keyboard owner do not have these kinds of after-market luxury because the bottom R1 modifiers are non-standard.

Let's talk about another serious issue of non-standard layout like K70. K70 do have 6.5 spacebar, which is very rare dimensions.
Most spacebars in MX Cherry are in 6.25unit and 7unit.

Question of the day for everyone...
Do changing after-market replacement keycaps set important?

filco best in term of quality but no extra feature like media keys , dip swithces ,Etc
rapid -I advantage is LED and its effect but led failure rate very high.

If LED did die, can RMA or just void the warranty and fix it yourself. tongue.gif
Anyway, I don't know if CM Storm Rapid-i has LED issue or not, my friend is using one and it's perfectly fine.

I would recommend Filco too for this case. Much more modding advantages.
