yrh0413, THIS may suits your "tube rolling" crazyness, a hybrid amp your K701 better?! smile.gif
*
i jus dun dig hybrid..why ppl go hybrid anyways? hybrid is a SS amp that uses a tube at the pre-input to distort the sound, to give it the tube sound, then amplifies it using ss way. basically, u go tube, go all the way, go ss, use all ss. and furthermore, 28V plate voltage for the tube..must be one itsy bitsy tiny tube..from my exp..small tube=not kewl sound tongue.gif (well, from my very short experience laa..)

However, output stage is a pure class A for the SS state, this is UBER impressive, however it seems that no heatsinking is available there. no feeddback at output..however theres a lot of filtering at the ss opamp section, most prob to reduce tube distortions like microphonics and all.

at times you wonder..hell, tube amps are easy to build, hybirds are easier (since they deal with low voltage). However, u can die from building a pure tube with sum kick ass tubes..u wont even be hurt on a SS, hehe!

That is a high price/performance amp built for "gatal" people, you can do opamp+tube rolling, highly upgradeable biggrin.gif

From my "extensive" research at Headfi, some forumers said the 336i is a good match with the K701. However i do notice they mention before that the 336i emphasize more on the higher frequencies. Bass is less than average on the stock tubes, and you need to tube-roll a Ken-Rad VT-231 (stronger bass, narrower soundstage). That Ken-Rad itself is USD 75 for a NOS sweat.gif Quite a number of forumers reported that the 336i exhibits humming easily, and they recommend you solder a caps under the tube socket. Many forumers over there paired their 336i with Beyers and Senns, and surprisingly none of them paired with the K701. Strange huh?

As for the 332, Danny strongly recommend i get this instead of the 336i to pair with our K701. But then reviews are very scarce on Headfi, and tube-rolling is close to null on the 332. Danny "guarantees" that the 332 is much more superior than the 336i though.

I just confirmed my order on the Heed Audio CanAmp. Gonna make my payment tomorrow and hopefully the amp will arrive before my 22nd birthday tongue.gif

smile.gif you may want to consider this amp: Heed Audio CanAmp. Its hitting 60 pages in Headfi and so far only 4 members sold them off. Plenty of them are pairing this amp with K701.

QUOTE(my Microsoft Outlook)
Dear Yee,

Thanks for your inquiry.

Indeed, we have no distributor in Malaysia (generally in the Far East) but you can buy your CanAmp from us directly as mail order.

Price&Conditions: In such cases - that is, direct sale into countries without Heed distribution -, we grant 15% discount because the customer purchases the unit without proper dealers backup (with no pre- and after-sales services). The Canamp retails for EUR 300 (exc. VAT) in Europe, so you are to pay only EUR 255 plus shipping costs (EUR 60 to Malaysia).

Regardless of the discount, you get a full 3-year warranty, and a 30-day money back guarantee into the bargain. Payment can be made either by bank transfer, or by PayPal.

Lead time is 2 weeks at the moment.

If you are interested, just drop me a mail for order, and I send you a proform invoice by return.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
Alpar Huszti
Marketing&Sales Manager, HEED AUDIO
HEED AUDIO

PS. Don't worry, voltage is no problem: our European 230V version has a 15% voltage headroom (<265V), so you wouldn't have any problems even with severe voltage swings.

I'd done my payment through Telegraphic Transfer at Maybank. It cost me RM1490 including the RM27 service charge. And Alpar just confirmed my payment. I'm pretty sure it will arrive before my 22nd birthday tongue.gif
