I think Sennheisers pair well with ss amps instead. Grado/Alessandro have very good synergy with valve amps. That's why i sold off my entire Grado setup.

If you want to the the MS2i, i guess you have no choice but to get 2 amps for both your K701 and MS2i. The X-can 3 is a nice hybrid amp, but if i remember correctly Danny did mention before that the v3's is on the soft side. I don't have any experience on any of these amps though.

I would somehow... suggest he goes to try a Grado sounding headphone and see... which one he likes. You've gotta love it's 'base' sounding even before burn in. Just my small little comment...

It's the fundamental sound it will have from your phone even before burn in. Han, the un-burned in and a burn in one have at least 75% of the similar sound signature. Dont tell me the new one doesnt have expansive soundstage and airy feel?

soundstage is already there regardless of new or old.

airiness is also there regardless of new or old.

bass is nil on a new pair.

vocals are muffled on a new pair.

details are less obvious on a new pair.

imaging is less obvious on a new pair.

-----------------------------------

Out of 6 criteria above, the new and old K701 shares 2 similarity. Other than that i can tell you, the K701 evolves from caterpillar into a butterfly. I would say the well-burn in K701 is 70% different from a fresh pair.

dry.gif no point keeping the inferior setup. Selling them off to fund for a better setup is a wiser move. If i go for the MS2i last time, i'm pretty sure the LD2+ will stay

LOL, everyone loves their own setup, no point comparing... Continuous finding and sloting in your favourite rigs gradually, in the end... it become an Orpheus... Lol...

K701 is the highest level i'll go. And i won't spend RM2k on an amp smile.gif over this limit and i'll be seriously considering a good speaker setup
