Big 4 in SG will always welcome kulis from Malaysia. Not many locals are willing to trade their life for the sake of working the long dreaded graveyard hours in the Big 4. picture working till 5am and having to go into office at 9am thereafter.

jitshiong, this job will pay u $5k. So, do you think you will have good life?

This job, even with $20k a month is not a good life to me.
No work-life balance....

I dont think how working in Malaysia with RM5k helps me too. I waste 2 hours on the road everyday, and then I come here do Accountant work also work as late. Plus, my sister is going down to study and I do plan to go back to audit, more learning curve. Tats why Big 4 SG.

1) If you are good enough, your life will be good. Stay condo, keep ang moh dog as pet, drive big car, sleep peacefully at night.

2) SPM? Anything as long as you work hard and contribute, sg will reward you, an ah gong once said.

i assume you said ''good enough'' is being good in my work quality and ethics, no?

i think that only high lvl cert can live like what u state in 1) sweat.gif

If you compare RM and SGD alone, of cos earning SGD is better. What you save you get X 2.69 when you go back to Msia and spend.
Go ahead with audit if that's what you want. What I'm saying is that the Big 4 will welcome people like you. Lots of vacancies actually. Whether you can perform up to the firm's expectations, it's a different thing.

QUOTE(beancountz @ Apr 3 2015, 02:48 PM)
don't pull my leg la dai kar jie. from the $5k, take home pay only $4k.

Condo installment is not an issue, the issue is the upfront 20% + stamp duty + ABSD. how to afford to buy a condo in the first place wor.

Everyday have to OT work until 9pm, 10pm. where got time to cook?

Car? Pay for COE until laosai also not enough leh. Now have to fork out 50% up front to buy car somemore.

Fly home..not an issue la. but if u fly home every weekend, u see how much the flights budget eat into ur expenses..

Pub..kopitiam with those old uncles counted or not?

I can eat out also. Every meal i eat out. Eat chap fan lor.

Of cos still got money left. how much is the leftover?

So, again, $5k got good life arr?
*
Roughly la, I don't remember the exact figures.

1) 5k, then 1k go to CPF + your boss part, you get 1+ k to pay your house installment, if you get a 3 bed room, rent out the 2 rooms you earn some more. If like me husband and wife combine, just make it for the installment. We save for 6-7 years for those downpayment misc fees working in SG. If you work in MY you also need years to save your downpayment, unless your father mother pay for you. So, 0 here.

2. Get a job where you are required to drive, then COE, installment subsidised. Petrol toll parking maintenance all ah gong's. Installment around 1k for a BM for your good life example.

3. Get a job that pay you to fly home, or don't rip your frequent flyer points for business trips. Done. I pay 1 or 2 tickets to go home only per month. Roughly 600 sgd if Airasia?

3. PUB means tenaga national and jabatan air, and gas. Not beer. Roughly 900 full air con including cable, fiber board band and 4g cell, this I share, so divide by 2 = 500.

4. Cooking decent good meals roughly 500 top, per person.

5. Give you go out eat drink play, 1k. 250 per weekend, this is very good budget for my good life already.

4k - 1k - 500 - 500 - 1k = Savings 1k per month. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif Wah lao, work 1 year I got 12k sgd for my annual trip and stuff lo.

Of coz those above is low quality for atas people staying big mansion, drive lambo, fly first class, eat michelin, drink moet like water, year year go Swiss skiing trip those.

MOM should give me advertisement fee for promoting good work life in SG.

Thanks for your concern. I do know life in a Big 4, as I was from PwC KL. I also know their expectations and working hours. My concern is how to get there, because I have no referrals and my sister is rushing me -.-

You worked in PwC KL before and you need referrals? Your experience itself is a referral already.
Y is your sister rushing you? If she wants to live in Singapore, she should be independent enough.

Its actually my parents who wants me to go with my sis. First, she is the youngest. Additionally, I wont be alone, because they do wish me to venture elsewhere as well. As I said, referrals so I can get it right the first time smile.gif

Woww.. yea, I left PwC KL too for a couple of months, currently Statutory Accountant for IBM (ironically doing Singapore entity accounts) and I didnt like it. I am not learning anything other than learning how to use the new accounting systems, and we work late too.
