Hi guys, I'm thinking of working in Singapore and want to count my net salary Other than the progressive "tax resident" rate is there anything else I should consider? Any other taxes which might apply in the Malaysia side?

QUOTE(M4A1 @ Mar 11 2015, 01:46 PM) me take 25% pay cut (dollar to dollar) to come here n work The effective cut is prob 12-13% more since they don't pay EPF/CPF

QUOTE(ThanatosSwiftfire @ Mar 12 2015, 07:07 AM) Shudnt it be 25% (base pay) + 12% (epf contribution) that you dont have here? So abt 30% less, but currency is 2.65x If ur at the borderline in terms of monthly savings.. might be quite a tough one yupp so dollar to dollar 37% less in that scenario For me I'll consider EPF and rent when normalizing to compare pays across Either way, for long term career prospects I've always felt a move to Singapore would be good regardless of the initial pay I'm exploring an internal transfer to SG currently

QUOTE(JohnJon82 @ Mar 12 2015, 12:38 PM) My current MY offered pay to my SG pay is 1:2. Rm to Sgd. Your pay would depend on the local rate of your new job, not % of your previous jobs. Wow you mean dollar for dollar your offer in SG is twice the MY pay? I doubt that is based on local market normalization alone, what kind of job will be in such low supply in SG but highly supplied in MY?

I'll be moving over to work at New Tech Park (Lorong Chuan MRT) Any suggestions on where would be a good location to stay, not too far and reasonably priced?
I've been looking on the online ads but not sure if the prices posted there are negotiable or firm usually

QUOTE(Fiona Chin @ Mar 26 2015, 04:26 PM) Sigh you two good la, can find job, got counter offer for several jobs. I cannot even go and find job, bonded for 4 more years, 6 months NCC some more. My boss say I next in line for his place but don't look like he going to die anytime soon. No agents call me now. When I apply jobs they thought I am joking after running background check. Not my fault born rich... I want to feed myself with my own effort too. Wow company want to bond you means you must be very capable

QUOTE(kron_ka @ Mar 31 2015, 11:54 AM) In the accountancy line? I also heard is it true, if a malaysian guy earn MYR 10k, he apply job to spore, they will hire him at 25% X MYR 10k/2.65 ? They will translate from our MYR salary? So RM10k becomes SGD943? Haha...

I really dont see how moving down to SG is spoiling her, it's not like it is a bad career move for you If you were Singaporean and you move to Malaysia for your sister....then maybe it is haha
I'd say go for it, I wish I'm moving down with someone close but unfortunately not the case, it's a good thing to move with your sister

QUOTE(ViLenG @ Apr 23 2015, 09:25 AM) Hi guys, may i know roughly how long it will take to process employment passes/work visas? it has been a week since my agent last contacted me after the interview, and i was a lil worried. The EP approval? Mine took 2 days after it was submitted to MOM I guess it depends on how efficient your agent is, when they submit

QUOTE(native19 @ Apr 26 2015, 05:35 PM) PM me the contact please, tried searching on my own and its turning out to be a nightmare lol . I assume the agent is fine with me still being in MY? Plan to go there in next 2 weeks to look for one and pay deposit if nothing works out. Yupp its SGD 1700 the first month, but usually split into 2 When you agree on the place, prepare 1 month deposit + 1/2 month commission + GST & stamp duty (if your agent doesnt absorb it) When you move in, prepare the additional 1 month rental I'll PM you the details
