Well... there's Sing dollars to look forward to that are pretty attractive...

Hmm, let me rephrase my Q then. So if bdo/rsm/gt offering 2.1k SGD and big 4 msia offer 2600(standard) would you fly to singapore and work? Is it worth it? Salary aside...okay I mean salary $_$ is really important but I'm also thinking of the reputation of the mid-tier firms compared to the big 4 in Malaysia and how it will affect my resume and my career prospects in the future..so do u think, going singapore mid-tier firm is better after considering those 2 aspects? salary n reputation wise...

Any guys have ideal about the post of account executive on those big 4? Are they support an ad-hoc job, which means non-auditing field for outsiders?

I think you'd better take into account that though they are our neighbours, the working culture is a little different. My experience of working with Singaporeans is that there is always a pressure to deliver results early. Deadlines are usually short and work is expected to be completed quickly. You should ask around people that are working (or have worked) in Singapore to get a better feel of the working culture.

Resume wise, I'd doubt that a mid-tier professional services firm in Singapore would give you better career prospects in the future. If anything, it would be your working experience in Singapore that would be useful in your resume rather than the actual company you work for. Any people working in Singapore that can give feedback? I believe chess_gal is working in Singapore now (with KPMG?). You could always try to PM her or something...

Man,... your question is extremely vague... it'll be easier for the people reading this thread to answer if you ask about more specific things. Erm... I also can't understand your actual question so perhaps you'd need to rephrase it or rewrite it.

Hi guys,

I am currently pursuing my final year of Bachelor Of Commerce majoring Accounting and Finance in University of Queensland. I will be graduating Dec 2010. When should i start applying for a job in Big 4, my target is Audit.

I am planning to take CPA Australia while working, will it be hard ?

If my CPA australia goes well and i finish it in 3 years time, am i considered a Chartered Accountant by MIA ?

Thank you in advance for those who help to clarify my questions.

Hello peeps,

I'm currently doing my ACCA P1 - P3.

I got F1-F9 with exemption and went to the United States for 2 semesters exchange program. I don't have degree yet, though.

Can I get a job in Big 4 by now?

I am thinking to study part time after June 2010 exam and work for full time.

I'm going to have interviews at KPMG for audit assistant and Deloitte for tax assistant

has anyone gone through the interview process, mind to share with me?

i wanna ask for the math test, is it something related to those complicated formulas , or only basic ones? and for essay writing , what are the possible questions?

thanks , i'm really nervous...
*
You will do 2 tests (verbal and numerical) plus a short essay with KPMG before proceeding to the 1-on-1 interview. For more information and a sample of how the test is gonna be, google up Cubiks and look for their sample test for verbal and numerical, but to answer your question, no the math test doesn't require any complicated formula. My essay was a pretty short one (well you only have 20minutes so you are not really expected to write a long story), basically you will be given 2 questions, I did the one that asked me to write about how I see myself in 3 years.

No idea about Deloitte assessment though.

Assurance needs to stay back everyday if necessary. High labour turnover, your senior may left you in 2 months or even immediately, those stay will become manager. Assurance name maybe glamorous but in actual fact it is the worst one. Since it doesnt even add 1 cent to the profit of business, why people should value audit knowledge ?

Tax is value adding to business (reduce tax expense) so certain biz really pays well to good tax consultants. Workload is less heavy and staying back late is lesser as only the tax deadline reporting matters more. Those who likes travel and dynamic environment may find tax a bit boring (some,...).

You can try either one first, if unhappy then switch lo. But its easier to switch from audit background to anything else but thats about it.

when i applied to the Big 4 firms, I had close to zero knowledge in Malaysian tax.. that's not a problem at all since intensive training will be provided. They won't reduce your salary. Fresh grad salary is between RM2.45-2.5k for degree holder.. if you have a professional qualification eg ACCA then it should be around RM2.6k.
