Question: Can I use smart tag for "paydirect" also? I just need to put the registered touch n go card into the smart tag device, no?
*
doesnt matter direct tng card or smarttag (still thru a tng card), as long as the tng card is *linked* in the tng ewallet app.

read the FAQ thoroughly >> https://www.tngdigital.com.my/faq.html

Q: What is PayDirect?
A: PayDirect enables users to add up to three (3) physical Touch ‘n Go cards into the eWallet for toll usage. The physical Touch ‘n Go card that has been added into the eWallet will be used as a medium to pass through “Touch ‘n Go” and “SmartTAG” lanes at participating highways. When users pass through the toll booths, the toll fares will be deducted from the eWallet. If the eWallet does not have sufficient funds, fares will be deducted from the card.

Q: Do I have to open the Touch ‘n Go eWallet each time I pass through the toll?
A: No, just use the added Touch ‘n Go card as usual to pay tolls (either tap the reader or via SmartTAG) at participating highways. The toll fare will be deducted directly from your Touch ‘n Go eWallet.

I dropped by today, and saw super long queue, so I asked which exact day next week. The person said they are ending earlier... this sunday will be the last day

Nope, I asked in 1 outlet before, only cash.

Previously somebody shared that you can top up your physical TnG card using TnG e-wallet.

Anybody verified this?
I have no time and chance to do so.
*
I have also tried one outlet, only cash, cannot use Touch 'n Go eWallet. I'm also interested to know which outlet that this person tried and could use eWallet to top up.

Thanks for your sharing.

In short, RFID cannot deduct fund from TnG Card but TnG/Smart Tag line can deduct from e-wallet if insufficient fund in the TnG card so it’s call PayDirect

My initially thinking was opposite... thanks for correction !

*
The fact that they put that particular sentence under the Tng Card section in the eWallet confuses a lot of users. People around me got confused by it, and I have to explain to each and every one of them. 😅

Yes, that's correct. As long as that card is added into your eWallet and you are using it on PayDirect supported highways, you can use on both Touch 'n Go and Smart Tag lanes.

I'm using pay direct with toll rebates. Usually once I pass the toll booth, the app will sent a notification that amount has been deducted and I've received the rebates. However, I noticed not all the time I receive the notification, and when I check the transaction of pay direct in the app, the transaction is not recorded, but my rebate quata is used up. Anyone know if this is a bug?

Problem is the current RFID implementation is generally poor and no improvement over using the smarttag.

agreed, i use it because i no longer need to reload TnG card through counter, if they allow reload online for TnG card, i dont hink RFID makes any diff with smart tag, some might claim is more convenience smile.gif

RFID is a good first step towards cashless, I don't think they will ditch it though.

I hope they don't too, RFID only useful if standardize tolls collection to MLFF.

If we are stuck with tolls gates, PayDirect(with smarttag) is a better.

Not sure how soon RFID and Pay Direct will be ready for PLUS.
I am wishing to have pay direct for PLUS asap to retire my Zing card.

However, I can imagine enter PLUS with RFID then exit with Pay Direct will caused TNG system haywire already..

so far RFID is not reliable...for my case, some RFID lane can detect my RFID tag and open the barrier, some RFID lane cannot detect my tag...
reported to TNG several times, dunno when will they fix it or are they able to fix it.. rclxub.gif

some have surcharge, some dont. if it does, some need min balance as well.

check the respective mall/parking operator.
