well this situation seems already happened to me lately this afternoon around 4.50pm 18/09/06...

i was playing BG at that time, anyhow suddenly got dc in the mean time...
then relog, i was like WTH... couldnt login... after that went to acc management at WoW official site to change password, darn it, the account was being theft as well, couldnt login...
started worrying...#$%@

nex i immediately went to password retrieval site to recover the changed password, as long as i hav assigned the acc with my email addr, since email not able to change, unless u phone Blizz...
another time again, WTF... couldnt recall back the secret question as it required to fill in as a prove to retrieve password...
as the others field required is the phone number & email addr...

y is this happened to me around this time...??

so, i wrote an email to Blizz to get help, until now, no response fr them...
already sent the 2nd email to them juz now...
they seems helpless as well...
i think my beloved game had been ruined by the F#$king thief...
hope he gonna rot in h3ll, bust@rd...
hopeless & worthless being played so far up til now...

well...any1 facing this issue b4 or lately...???
please guide me, if u hav idea to solve this matter...

are u sure its not lag? sometimes u get dced, ur account is still logged in to the server. when u try to log in at tht time, it will say something like account used or something.

You don't expect Blizzard to reply your mail in just a few hours after mailing it to them? Give them some time, you are not the only customer that encouter problems.
Just relax, they probably will want you to fill in your real particulars (you did fill the correct information when you registered rite?) to retrive the account, so you don't have to worry that much, it other words.. whats yours will be returned.

He stated he couldn't login to the Account Management on the website too. So this is not a sign of lag.

Well, all you can do it just wait, relax. Scan ur pc for key loggers or stuff like that in case ur email also compromised. If you really want it back, you can call them up.

Erm, what server are you playing on?

There was a notice that some servers will be shut down earlier (2 hours) than the usual 5am server time.

You say you could not login, what is the exact message you get?

I think you were still online when the servers are shutting down... at that point too, the character login will be disabled.

You need to remember the answer to your secret question. If you dont remember, the only way to find it out and to let blizzard release it to you is to call them.

They will ask you to provide info of your idenfication, address and everything that you registered the account last time and you will have to fax it to them. Once that's done, blizzard will send you the answer to your secret question. Then you can use the password retrieval thingy. Or, you can tell them to reset the password when u're on the phone with them. As long as you still have your email u're the only one with access to your new password.

Scan your computer for trojan and viruses. www.moosoft.com or nod32 is a good virus scanner, use it for 30 days trial~

One of my guild mates' account was stolen recently too. We were doing raid when he suddenly got disconnected and coundnt log back in. Not too long before he figured out he was hacked. As he is a Singaporean so he just called the blizzard singaporean branch to get help. What happened was Blizzard terminated the account so the account hacker couldnt do anything further and the account was given back to him after being frozen for a few days to restore his items. Gold was only partially restored unfortunately (All his valuable items and golds gone when he logged back in).
The whole process took more than 1 week in his case.
There are also some other complaints made by other players in the official forum.
I read a Chinese farmer stole one of the players account and demanded 1000g to let him have it back.



BTW, there is a notice on WOW website raising the awareness towards spyware and keyloggers. WOW players better take some time to read it carefully to prevent getting hacked. Also get a antispyware or antikeylogger and scan your computer everyday. There're just too many sypwares nowadays. If u dont do so you might still get hacked in the future after retrieving your account...

I have been hacked 2-3 weeks ago. u'll get ur things back in about a week of time provided u send a ticket to GM ASAP.

1st. u need to retrieve ur acc password from bliz website (forgot password option). A password will send to your email address.
2nd, log in to ur acc ASAP and send a ticket to GM.
3rd, GM will freeze ur account. They will request ur information
4th, U need to fax/mail (not email) ur photostate passport to them, and fill in an account retrieval form
5th, that will unfreeze ur account, and u'll get ur gear/gold (no enchant and no craps) in about a week.

Btw i don't know how if u forgot ur mother's maiden name and other information...

edit: 1 more thing, u most likely have trojan on ur PC, get a latest anti virus.
or search ur pc for scvh* if u found anything other than scvhost.exe (this is a window system file) eg: scvh0st.exe (zero), delete the file .

i had kena those trojan virus as they run in my pc during playing WoW...
sometimes it minimize the WoW game while playing & show me a msg of scvh0st.exe had error & close it down...
bac then at that time didnt notice its a (zero) in btween the original system spelling which is an (O)...
anyway im too late to make it b4 it happens...
so u guyz WoW kaki, pls take this as caution note to prevent u guyz being a victim...

because u don't use ur real information, that's y u forgot
blizzard response quite fast. i faxed the details ar around 12pm.. and i got my account back in around 3-4 hours (they will only be able to recover ur account after few days u unfreeze ur acc). and their email response is always less than a day.

the trojan is PSW.WOW.. that was the one on my pc before... u won't get everything back.. u'll only get back ur gear (without enchant and some of the stat will differ) plus gold.

i think i got the trojan from a link in wow forum.. the file is something like *.jpg.html

If you don't know what is the answer to your secret question, then there's only one way to solve this, call blizzard asap. They work faster if you talk to them on the phone. Didn't happen to me, but a friend of mine got her account stolen so i dug up crapload of information on how the whole thing works.
